Not that easy for the popular guys.kv331 wrote: 7. Public voting will take place on our SoundCloud and Facebook channels between December 12-December 26. There will also be a private judge voting. The judges will be determined by KV331 Audio internal team. The weight of public/private voting will be 30%/70%.

As for not thinking I could win. While I appreciate my own work (Which is what I'm in it for), I don't think that necessarily translates to others liking it. Having said that, there is that little part of me that starts to dream that I could win, but I don't entertain such things for long.
The way the voting is set up is a little strange, not only because of the voting mechanism (Yes. Even if the weighting is only 30% to the public), but I have just discovered that the developers give preference to those who design their own sounds

I still added your track to our playlist as well!
I am going to announce the playlist on facebook now. To vote for a song, please like the track on soundcloud.
Thanks Bulent. My track is really OK as it is? Just a soundcloud post?

I'm sure Bulent will keep an eye out for anyone trying something unfair with regards to public voting
+ we can always help to point out if we notice something...
Good luck everyone and may the best song win!

No need to even resort to anything "unfair" like fake accounts, etc.3ee wrote:I'm sure Bulent will keep an eye out for anyone trying something unfair with regards to public voting

John Doe has 1,000 followers on Facebook. All real people. Makes a post "Please vote for my song for the contest" and 1,000 people, all real, head for Soundcloud to vote.
There isn't a whole lot you can do about that.

As I mentioned, I would never expect to win a musical contest. Mostly because I lack musical skills, and can hardly tell which note is the higher one, and which note is the lower one (for instance an F and a G within the same octave). Sure, If I hear them after eachother, I can tell, but not if some notes are played between. So I'm pretty OK with the fact that I wouldn't place high if this would actually be a musical contest, with just a jury making the decision.
What I don't like, and what will probably make this my first and last contest I enter, is:
1. Rules are not respected, and not even followed by organizer. A deadline is to me what it sounds like, a deadline, meaning no entries can be added after a certain time.
2. People voting for themselves. How lame and desperate isn't this?
3. Fishing for votes, and especially by posting links in this thread. Seriously? Not to mention having the whole family and the whole circle of friends voting for your contribution. Did I mention lame and desperate?
And Wagtunes...sorry, but first complaining about this, and then both vote for yourself and sending a link to all your Facebook friends. The word hypocrite comes to my mind..

No offense taken. Now ask me if I care. Guess how many people voted for me? My wife. That's it. It's meaningless. When you don't know thousands of people, it's a waste of time.starflakeprj wrote:As I mentioned, I would never expect to win a musical contest. My finish last year was a total shock to me. And last year, none of my friends or family voted for me.
Anyway, you can call me whatever the frick you want. Your opinion of me means about as much as the can of tuna's sitting in my pantry.
Have a nice day.

...I mean...folks..really...folks...c'mon..
- you had 2 preset banks for free
- you were allowed to do thecontest even only using the player and not investing a single penny on purchasing anything from them
- they would have taken in the track anyway
- they are so kind to bring in also people a bit in delay
- doing music is fun
- sharing music with others is fun
- joining a contest for free is fun (in this world the most of music contests with cash prices are with submission fees, if you are not aware, and here is for free...)
- You gain some more visit to your music making on souncloud
- the free player of Synthmaster is anyway a very nice one with quite a bunch of nice presets. Again, all for free
- you are peacefully sitting in your room doing your music track with food in your stomach and electricity and internet and no one dropping bombs on your block of flats just because they like.
.and still...there are people complaining?...I don't get it...

Just for the record, I am not complaining about the contest. I was simply stating facts and the realities of things like these. Personally, I don't care where I finish. I entered because I love making music. But there are realities about contests with open voting that you simply can't ignore and I was just pointing them out.Diego_C wrote:...I mean...folks..really...folks...c'mon..

Do I care? Not in the least.
Just wanted to clarify that.
