Yes, MC is handled differently in Repro-5. There's also a new property for amount of threads used in Preferences.

It sounds amazing :)

I find I always prefer the sound with the effect button turned off, the individual notes seem to sound more alive and defined without the effects.

On my i7 turning on multi-core was essential, with that on very low CPU, with it off constant sound breakup.

The only thing I would improve is having a method to level match the velvet effect as you turn up the drive. It would be ideal if as you turn up the input the output goes down, or something like that. Maybe holding down the ctrl key while adjusting makes its output go in the opposite direction?

Anyway, completely brilliant! By far the most alive sounding VST poly, in fact for me, the first alive sounding VST poly. I even booted up Windows for the first time in a year to try this beast... can't wait for the Linux version!

anyone knows a source of prophet-5 patch diagrams to replicate on repro-5 (with sound of the original if possible)?

Do I see right there is no special beta serial, so crackling after 3 minutes?

Anyway, my computer seems to be to old for this. :borg:

I tested using the linux version of Reaper, with Repro 5.dll wrapped by LinVst,
(gives it a .so extension) the HS Celeste Organ and HS CS Something seem to use more cpu than a lot of the included presets, so noted some results.

I have an older i7 2600 with 4 cores @3400MHz and 8 threads, and using MC with 6 cores, playing the Celeste with 6 notes as fast as I can, qjackctl shows cpu use at around 39%, and with HQ added, around 52%, but no pops/crackles,
including firefox and a pair of filemanagers idling. Six-finger chords using
CS Something in HC could just peak into the 60% range. For a
first-day public beta, it's very useable, and the sound is great,
even if masked somewhat in a lot of undulating presets. I suspect Reaper has the best
multi-platform MC implementations money can buy, just a guess based on
rumours, heresay, and innuendo. Very glad to have used the coupon
for Repro 1!
Cheers

This thing needs 12 voices. I feel that the Matrix-12 sets the standard there for what is the minimum number of voices in a pad machine. If you're not going to be purist, which I support highly, then, for me, this is where pretty much all polysynths should start in terms of polyphony.

Check our VST3 notes... use VST2 to MIDI Learn, then the taught assignments persist in VST3.

Good to know it was resolved :phew:

Whenever you have crash reports, please send them to support at u-he dot com. Also, it would be great to get a detailed report as to what or how you made this happen, so we can take it into our support solutions if people run into the same problem.

Those for whom it works better can keep it enabled, and those for whom it doesn't can keep it disabled.

Similarly, I don't see a reason why there are not separate online/offline HQ settings across the entire U-He product line.
The multicore thing was discussed a few times, it's mainly about getting some more experience with the new system. It can happen too easily that multiple instances with MC turned on crush your CPU more so than having it turned off.

Offline rendering quality is a tricky can of worms. Due to effects like JAWS which is highly sensitive to bandlimiting sound-wise, an offline setting can have an clearly audible effect on the outcome. We would need to do a lot of trials with this, and for now it wasn't possible to go there when there's a risk that the devlopment time was wasted. That said, it's a feature we'll continue to discuss, and we'll need to make individual decisions for each plug-in (i.e. can't just force it onto the whole product line).

i mean where is [Repro-5.data] folder?
Like Zebra2, Uhbik, Filterscape: One product, multiple dlls, one data folder.

I've installed it over my registered version of Repro-1, so there where no random noise. I don't know the behavior in Demomodus. On an i3@2Ghz Laptop it works fine with no hq mode. But my video was recorded on an i7@3.5Ghz Desktop PC.

Minor thing - I went to click on the preferences cog/wheel to change the default size and it took me quite a few seconds to realize the cogwheel wasn't clickable, but it was the button beneath that was. Not sure if others experienced this (or care) or if this is personal, but it confused the mess out of me for a tiny bit.
I made that same comment on this thread.
It isn't only you :-)
and even knowing it is the switch, I still sometimes click the cog wheel first :-)
