How do we get a ping pong mode out of this? It's one of my favorite modes in Lyrebird but I can't get the same thing going on here. I was hoping Mono in with Crossfeedback and 100% width would be the magic setting, but that didn't do it either.

You need to move one of the tap handles on the LCD to 50%.

:dog: Duh, I didn't even both to try that because I was fundamentally misunderstanding how the left and right taps were interacting with the timebase. I was thinking they were two completely independent delay lines (i.e. each channel could have entirely different delay lengths), but I was wrong.

I was under the impression if I had a 1/4 note time base, and set the left tap to 50% with the right tap at 100%, that left tap would sound at every 8th note and therefore, every second 8th tap would sound at the same time as the quarter note right-taps. But you're right, they totally alternate (ping pong). This is what I get for blowing off portions of the manual beacause I thought I knew how a particular section worked.

Thanks!

Bought it before demoing and am happy with the purchase overall. It does things my other delays don't, and will get used where it fits.

However, I wish it would go a little more balls to the wall. Would love to see a 2x button added next to the color selector and a 4x button added for the saturation. Basically, I wish it was able to do extreme character delay effects as well as what it's doing now. Right now it feels like it's trying too hard to be like hardware rather than just being an amazing mixing tool. It's already not going to be used for clean and clear delays due to the filtering and smearing (unless you want to add a "none" mode on the color wheel).

I'm also not really understanding the point of the duck function or getting much use out of it. I use traditional ducking of the wet signal when the input is present via a sidechain comp all the time and expected this knob to do that. It's a shame it doesn't as it would be great for workflow.

Hehe)) They are actually two independent delay lines. It's the routing that changes where the taps go. In Stereo/Feedback mode both delay lines are independent. Feedback means feeding output of the delay line back into itself, and the crossfeedback is when the output from one delay line goes into input of another delay line.

As already mentioned, you can move one tap to 50% or some other ratios to get ping pong / swing patterns.
The way I understand ping-pong however is to set feedback routing to cross, and input to mono-L or mono-R. In this mode, the echo actually switches between left and right channel. In the Tap L/R method, the effect is created by time offset.

And to be fair. This is certainly not super intuitive. In the beginning, we had this misunderstanding of how the taps work in the office as well

Howard found fitting words in the manual. The ducking compressor ducks the feedback on loud input in order to prevent a "sonic mayhem". It's especially good when you use the delay with pads and similar and high regeneration levels.

I found the duck function is useful for changing the amplitude contour of the material in the buffer. Especially in Fast ducking mode. Some other delay plugins have builtin transient shapers which do similar thing. But with Coco's Threshold knob I can kind of draw any shape I want in realtime.

That indeed does it as well. Thanks Wililam. :tu:

** It works in Bitwig, I have no idea why it took so long to.. index I Guess.

It looks good now.

I cannot get this to load in Bitwig 2.3.4 Windows 10. Tried VST2, VST3. Folders work, it right next to the other U-he plugins. Works fine in Tracktion, and Reason. Should I talk to Bitwig support?

Yah I had already read the manual. I understand how it works and what it does. Just not understanding why I would use it or finding any time when I want to use it.

So far at least...

Colour Copy is definitely a nice little delay but it's just not blowing me away. :(
With delay plugs in my arsenal like Modnetic, Ohmboyz, Echobode, Replika XT, MSpectralDelay, tkdelay, Sandman Pro, Dub X, and Outer Space, I can't justify spending almost $55 for it at the intro price. I realize I'm in the minority and I'm certainly not trying to sh*t on u-he or anyone who is going ga-ga for it. I'm a u-he fanboi, they make some of the best plugs around. Colour Copy sound good, but I wouldn't pay more than $30 for it as it is now. It's a shame too as I was really looking forward to this one. Perhaps the spring reverb will grab me.

No flame required friend, thanks for being honest. :) I see where you are coming from, It is a month ahead of release, and see where it started at SuperBooth. This is a fast track, accelerated product.

I do judge it from a different point of view, I am comparing it directly with what I can do with MFM, and in combination with MFM, filterscape, Uhbik and Zebrify. (Well... And Presswerk, and Satin.) It may add enough, but is not a production release yet. I will buy it for sure sometime soon.

It may not be for everyone, and that is ok too. :D

Awesome reply, thanks dlarsen. :tu:

You make a good point and since this is beta this may only be a taste of what's to come. I'll certainly keep an eye on it. Knowing u-he, they'll improve it and in a few months or so I'll end up regretting that I didn't purchase this while it was still at its intro sale price. :hihi:

Cheers Mate! :)
