I think after a number of pages, people know this. But well done with the Company Man reply overall. Top job.

There really should be an e-mail notification!!! Come on, what the heck! But it is nothing new, that the Bitwig Devs/Crew made such avoidable mistakes. This is the story since v1.0 and even earlier... :dog: :D  and will continue!!!
Their lack of professionalism becomes visible especially in buisness matters. Just because one is a good Dev doesn´t mean one knows how to lead and run a company. To be fair the competition has much more employees in different business-areas (except Reaper). Bitwigs staff is very limited and the ones who are there, are there for life because they probably own part of the company or hold some degree of shares. And they don´t want to hire much more people because they want to hold their shares of the company and won´t pay too much people to work for them.

People need to understand how Bitwig came toghether: First of all, it´s a "friendship porject" between very good friends. --> BUT imagine your friends and you decide to found a company and you deploy the roles in the team. This means you won´t look for the best possible e.g. "marketing guy" on the job market. Instead one of your friends needs to do it. Maybe he has a college-degree in this very field but still is naturally unknowledable (I came and come across a lot of those people in university!!! To get very good in a field you need to be naturally good/very interested in the field and learn your f**king ass off and never stop evolving. A school degree means nothing without passion for the field! The probability that all your friends are such striving people is almost impossible). And this guy will always make the wrong/poor decision no matter what. And to fire him will be a "no go" because friendship is more important than buisness! (I agree!!!) So there you´re stuck in a dilema...

In some areas these guys are bloody amateures!!! :dog:

I´ll bet... You will see nothing like this amateur behaviour with Behringer when they drop their DAW. Rather you see other negative side-effects due to the size of the company... especially for the employees... Internally I probably would prefer to work at Bitwig HQ but as customer I prefer the more professional behaviour e.g. Berhinger because they have a lot of experience in buisness and don´t need to "lie" to customers and try to fool them or even trick them into something!
With the Behringer DAW I just hope it will be a real full featured DAW like Ableton, Reaper, Logic, Cubase, Bitwig.. and nothing like the Universal Audio DAW or Garage Band.

You're getting way ahead of yourself with all of those baseless "conclusions" and confabulations :dog:

Bitwig didn't lie to OP, didn't tricked him into anything and the fact that auto-renew option exists but is disabled by default suggests they're actually good at business decisions. In fact, the whole licensing model points to that, being novel to the DAW industry and while looking a bit like subscription not having the most negative features of one. Can you imagine if Netflix changed their model to one that when you don't renew you still have access to series & movies added to the catalogue until that point? :o Well guess what, this is exactly what Bitwig gives. You might not like it when compared to other licensing schemes within DAW world, but it's a smart - albeit risky and potentialy polarising, like we see time & time again - business stretegy for a small company working in a niche, highly competitive market.

Fanboy to the rescue...

Dude, were you even there at the release of v1.0 and wittnessed these "great" business decisions over the years? You need to get the FULL perspective!

But hey... no need for an answer... I`m going back making music into the DAW anyway. My hobby/profession still is making music/tweaking software and not "commenting on music stuff". Unlike some others... Just wanted to sign in to give my 5 cents...
