you know whats really bad ... that if you have usb ignition key or the not in the making anymore usb interface and you have authorized reason so you dont need to be online to use the program ( that in its self is crazy ) that you have to deauthorize from the stick or interface or your computer to use the program you have paid for wth is going on with these companys lately ( what have they been drinking !!!) you can not use the subscription Reason+ Rackextensions because you have to be online . I would suggest to BOYCOT everything that needs internet to be used . I am going to get a Mixing Console and MPC Style based Samplers and Synths and some Real Instruments and my Trusty ATARI ST with Cubase. And be done with these Companys ( its just Software we are Talking about ) !
If you decide to get Reason+ you obviously need to be on-line, like with ANY OTHER subscription service.
Reason+ = subscription model (20€ month)

Morning everyone. I can see why there is a lot of negative backlash here, these subscription things are tricky. I think if we're trying to be objective then the €20 a month really isn't that bad for a new user who is coming to music production and want's a cheap way to get involved and get a pile of toys to make music. Nobody complains about paying £10 for Spotify or £10 for netflix etc and this is really no different. Perhaps it's just slightly over-priced?
I'm a Reason 11 Suite owner (upgrade from an old NFR version) and I don't remember them promising me anything although I can see the angle that a new "tier" certainly implies something different than just "a bunch of new devices now". Still, I got what I paid for and I don't feel like I've been tricked in any way.
My suggestion would be for them to take some guidance from Bitwig or Kilohearts. With Bitwig, I have to pay annually but if I stop paying I still keep the version I have at that point. So they aren't taking anything away from me when I stop "subscribing" although it's not a perfect system becasue people need bugfixes and it's impossible to maintain every prior version of software - I know of what I speak (I'm a professional developer). Kilohearts do rent-to-own with €10 per month but they give you a €100 voucher after every 12 months. At that point, if you want to pay towards a perpetual license then you can. You'd have to wait years to have enough "credit" to buy the full Reason software and all the REs though so, again, not perfect. Same with Kilohearts - 5 years to reach the €500 needed for their full bundle.
I think, whether people like it or not, they have to accept that this is the way the world is going. Companies need steady cash flow and this is one way to do it. In terms of Bitwig - they've released regular updates including major new features and new devices. Unfortuantely Reason's history isn't encouraging and IMO it's stalled quite badly in recent years and I think this is actually the real issue - nobody would mind paying €20 per month for a great piece of software that genuinely keeps growing and advancing but they don't want to pay €20 per month for a stale, outdated DAW that hasn't had any innovation for years. I don't blame them.

I understand that nothing was promised. And they don't need to. But in business world long lasting customer relationships are about trust. And I would "get mad" if Ableton would say that our Suite upgrade path is now done and you can uprade to Live 12 standard and get some of our devices etc., or get the 20€/month subscription plan. But nevermind you get to keep the "extra devices" from Suite 11antic604 wrote: Thu Jan 28, 2021 8:02 amThat's not true. I'm on V6 and I'm missing 5 or 6 new synths (and probably some minor updates to synths I do have in V6) added in V7 and V8, until I upgrade.Lazarus451 wrote: Thu Jan 28, 2021 7:01 amIn Arturia for exaple you get the new synths when the new V-collection hits the market.
That's true, but not because the rule was "you get everything that was released in the meantime", but just because they decided at the time that Suite will be composed of certain devices, that included those released between 10 and 11.Lazarus451 wrote: Thu Jan 28, 2021 7:01 amEdit. For example I thought that I got the new devices (made by reason studios) released between 10 and 11 when I got the Reason 11 suite.
It was never said 12 Suite would include all RE devices added between 11 Suite and 12 Suite, either.
It was never even said there will be Suite other than 11.
I'm really stunned by the negative feedback. What RS did is exactly the same what Presonus did with Sphere and somehow I don't see a backlash there![]()
With Reason I can just decide that the instruments offered in suite 11 are enough and the sequencer part was not the most important part of Reason for me. I waited the Suite upgrade to get Friktion, but it's not the end of the world. I'll get something else if 12 standard is not good enough.
And personally I'm still not angry, just perplexed about the decisions. Because for me it looks like they are making the bought version (Suite) worse (edit. by upgrading point of view), so that the subscription model would look better.
And in some forums people are asking that "why are people angry because they didn't change anything, they are just offering the additional subscription model". Well, they removed the only reason(able) upgrade path for suite users (in my perspective).

I 1st bought Reason 10 in late 2017 and I don't think it was even an option if I wanted it.

Obviously I can't speak for your taste but I don't find it any different than any other TV station/channel/service. You have to sift a bit and, of course, there is a lot of stuff you won't like but if you know your own taste you can find things. It seems to be a bit better for TV series than for movies, I'll say that. We're in a golden age for documentaries and there's loads of those and a lot of good TV shows from the past 20 years showing up in entirety.AnX wrote: Thu Jan 28, 2021 8:45 ami do, Netflix is a pile of shitequincy wrote: Thu Jan 28, 2021 8:39 am Nobody complains about paying £10 for Spotify or £10 for netflix etc

It's an interesting comparison though - an awful lot of the TV shows and movies on services like netflix/prime can be "bought" as digital downloads or on DVD in various places but a movie might cost you the equivalent of 1 month subscription and a TV show could be the equivalent of 6 months of the subscription. At that point, you're better off paying €10 per month and having the choice of watching any of it. It really is cheaper unless you barely watch TV at all.
Or, you can keep the tenner. Nobody is forcing you. Reason users here, including me, have a choice to continue using perpetual license and optionally buy upgrade to R12 etc. Nobody has a gun to my head.

You are now unhappy that you bought 11 Suite and won't get 12 Suite.
I was unhappy 18 months ago when Suite was announced with 16 REs for little to no extra money, of which I already had 12 or 13 that I bought at full or just slightly reduced price

No, we don't have to accept that. The world will go that way only if we allow it to happen with our money. Don't pay for it, don't support companies which force you to subscribe (which is not RS yet, but something tells me it's a matter of time). And btw. - do I understand correctly they screwed up Reason Intro owners with no upgrade path at all?quincy wrote: Thu Jan 28, 2021 8:39 am I think, whether people like it or not, they have to accept that this is the way the world is going.
