You can stay after whatever you want this is not the problem. The problem was that you initially made a claim but when called on it you started to marginalize and smudge waters.savantaudio wrote: Tue Sep 06, 2022 5:45 pm We stand by our original claim that the Quantum 2772 Evolution will null (to -75-80dB) with the core algorithm of the 90s hardware that inspired it. Our comments were taken out of context by some, so clarification was provided on our website.
The plugin has redesigned the hi-cut EQ filters to be more like the original 80s hardware, so any null tests performed using presets that require those filters will not null as deeply with the 90s hardware, which we explained in detail on our website.
The hardware has gone through many iterations over the years, and the main thing that changes from generation to generation is the filters, which are not considered part of the core algorithm.
We still welcome any null tests with the original hardware. Of course, they must be set up with very precise sample/latency offset matching. And we are happy to talk in more detail about the differences in filter design, and why we made the choices we did.
The way you say it it sounds as if almost every hardware QRS user out there has a unit that sounds vastly different than the other one. Like it is some kind of aging analog dinosaur made of components that degrade over time (aging effect) thus - someone else reverb may sound vastly different than the emulation you worked on yours. Nonsense.
And now it's about precise sample latency, offset, and all that like it's some exclusive deeper knowledge people don't know how to address (this is not the case). But this is not the problem. The problem is not complete null or all or something like that.
The problem is that you are calling a shot of "complete null" which connects or assumes your emulation as a perfect bit for bit development achievement - which would be awesome if true of course, but people reported to you that the presets on hardware and your software are NOT sounding the same, even with they effort of tweaking your plugin they can not achieve same sound, therefore, they don't even try to do a null test.
And then you post one or two presets and that is fine but people called you on different presets not sounding as on their own unit.
Look it's simple. You release a plugin and call it "same as hardware" or whatever blurb you make. People compare it and they can't same sound. By your logic they need some sort of deeper experience and whatever to obtain it. Therefore it's a miss. I am not saying your product is bad. People like it. I am saying it's unfair to call connect it to the sound of QRS unit while people can not get the same sound on their own hardware model that you apparantly used to model your product.
Whatever, I've seen Gearspace discussion and what parody it becomes when "I don't have the hardware but the plugin sounds good to me" people started to make their own parade.
By that logic, I could put the latest model Volvo sticker on my old Skoda and sell it as Volvo. It does not work like that.
Enjoy.
