No seriously? That is pure elitism and imho the core problem in this subforum.
Observed pattern:
You guys pretend to be so civilized but you're no different than a gang of rednecks in a bar where no one else is really welcome.
No seriously? That is pure elitism and imho the core problem in this subforum.
Observed pattern:
- A novice asks a question because (s)he's faced with a real issue.
- Most answers given are stated in such a manner that a novice cannot be expected to make head or tail of it.
- Chatter carries on, first touching the original topic but not remotely in a way that aids the OP.
- Chatter carries on full off topic amongst regulars, shamelessly, page after page.

We are the KVR collective. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.

Yeah, Glenn Miller too, a little, though not as much as she exposed me to Louis Armstrong, my next swing step after the Andrews charmers.jancivil wrote: Wed Sep 01, 2021 10:46 pm My mother liked that, and Glenn Miller. My father was into 'progressive' and considered that cornball.

It's a joke, son. about exactly this, it's also a reference to the forum ways, need 50 posts to do HPC (and that sometimes the off-topic here wound up thereBertKoor wrote: Thu Sep 02, 2021 6:53 am > make it so you need 500 posts to post here

You seek to belittle by your asinine remark. Yeah, it goes off topic once the subject is fully sussed. (There was one guy who flounced off saying the words were too big.)
For me the problem of this subforum is half-assed answers guys poot forth such as the seventh chord answer.
There are three.
So who tf are you to determine what this forum should be?

On topic, was the subject of short notes in DAW not sorted for you? Which bits in which threads? "Most of" noob questions aren't really answered. What gall.
This was actually a workflow-in-the-DAW question and I tried to answer it with a workflow-in-the-DAW kind of answer.
They weren't getting very cool effects with a paucity of information about it* so I described what a sample instrument does with shorts. I could do a lot more but I can't make the guy have more experience with it, *or more curious and self-starting. Sorry. I'm not excluding anybody with that but let's be real. I think that is a good start and that there's nowhere further this is going. Who do you figure I owe here, exactly?

It's a joke...you've played that card too many times, I have mentioned several times how it abused and adding the son...clearly it was made in a joking way but like many jokes it was likely based in reality (one of the reasons "its a joke" is a common gaslighting tactic, it can be a highly effective dodge while getting one to question themselves).
Bert is not the only one to make such observations, even within this summer...Jan, perhaps it is you...something you say to me every time I try to get things on track...today was upmost of gall...you reported Bert for speaking his opinion, no surprise you're gonna report this too...
I was here (not a mod) when this first came up, and the elitism issue was a concern then too...people were very helpful then, talked to people to help them understand...I also notice how very rare if ever those people post here now...and guess what, the people I am thinking of have all been active as of late July 21.
FTR Bertkoor is a very respectful and respectable member, your characterization of him was way out of line, self serving and wrong. Bert is extremely intelligent, helps many members with technical issues often and a great example of how a member should act. You dont have to like anyone, but disagreeing is not a call for character assassination.
Perhaps next time leaving off that last three words of flaming...

I am no elite. No academic within music, but a craftman. My music is applied theory. I´d gladly teach basic tricks to noobs, which can be used right after. It is just that everytime I say something very basic and trivial, some self-pronounced internet docs are going to deconstruct and mystify the terms as if it is frigging Kabbalah. What is left are chats with few or maybe only one who speaks the same language as yourself and shows interest. Such conversations, e.g. between me and Jan, have absolutely nothing to do with derailing threads. When we set in, the threads are usually off track already and ready to make room for socializing around theory and OTs.

intentions and perceptions are not always the same, again this was a concern when the thread started. You just stated "I´d gladly teach basic tricks to noobs"...is that to mean you dont now?
"It is just that everytime I say something very basic and trivial, some self-pronounced internet docs are going to deconstruct and mystify the terms as if it is frigging Kabbalah."
And? Dude, this is not a music theory website...this site primarily about plugins and you really just described pretty much every plugin thread and many members...it's the internet, it's KvR
Know your audience...if you feel this site is too trivial, too basic for you then you have choices. You can ask Ben (I'll even endorse it) for an advanced music theory forum which would require more posts to enter or you could go to another site. What happens is people talk above the heads of others, others get confused and bail on the MT forum but also might bail on KvR as well, that is not beneficial to most of the community. (it doesnt have to be blatant elitism, simply the appearance of it)
If we have but offering as a music theory forum and it seems that the average KvR member may not have attended music schools that said forum should keep that in mind and said forum should be at a layman's level.

How did you came from my complaint that I get interrupted when I try to teach basics and trivialities to the site is too trivial to me? It does not follow. Non sequitur. Big fat drunken strawman. If I thought the site was too trivial, I would not try to teach trivialities, would I? Absurd. Like the devil reads the bible. I will disregard the rest. This is an offence of my intelligence and dignity. What is next, that it means that I hate everyone? Get sober. I am off.Hink wrote: Thu Sep 02, 2021 8:24 pm Know your audience...if you feel this site is too trivial, too basic for you then you have choices. Yld be at a layman's level.
BTW: Didn't I patiently and with example explained you the difference between intervals with rhythm and melodies the other day?

Oh, yes I did, didn't I? How all that translates into me thinking the site is too trivial remains a mystery.
Suit yourself.
