Oh - and what might be a solution for some folks' setups is that nothing would come through using the bc ASIO driver unless the connector was set to both send and receive - although you can turn off sending actual audio data with the switch without it messing up anything. Must need that for sync.

Finally have this working, with Auxture feeding audio into Reaper. This will be very useful. If BC can find a way to allow multi channel will be better again. But am happy with this as is.

Hi all,i've just bought the Connector but i have a problem with my 3 daws,CBB,Mixbus and Samplitude Pro X 6.
When i send the audio signal from CBB to Mixbus, for example, i have the audio and the meters work in the receive Connector, but when i hit record don't work,no signal,no record.....
Where i'm wrong?
Can oyu help me?

Hi there,
Sorry for this newbie question, I'm probably doing something wrong.
I have bought the Blue Cat Connector and I'm looking to record the output of Cubase 11 into Albeton Live 11, I have it on send in Cubase 11 and on Recieve in Live 11.
Both DAW's are on the same Windows 10 PC.

They seem to be connected as the when I change the name from 'Anonymous' the names I have chosen appear in the other DAW in both instances of Blue Cat Connector.
The meters move and it seems to playback in Live 11 but it doesn't record anything in Live 11 when I press record, tried it on Audio tracks and even MIDI tracks, but I can't get it to record anything.

I've seen post about virtual drivers, virtual cables and Patchworks and now I am a bit confused by it all.
Is there something else I need to buy or different Asio drivers (other than my audio interface) I should be using or need to configure?
I'm using my MOTU 2 audio interface.

I thought it would be a case of buying Blue Cat Connector, doing send on one DAW and recieve on the other DAW using 'Local Host' on both , matching the port numbers and it would work.

Is there a step by step guide for recording from one DAW to another DAW on the same Windows PC.

I have watched the product video on YouTube but they are using 2 differrent DAW's (Studio One & Logic) and are on a Mac as well so I can't follow the steps exactly.

Like I said there's a chance I'm doing something wrong.

Also how do you get MIDI from one DAW to another DAW on the same Windows PC.
Any help or success stories with DAW to DAW on the same Windows PC would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

You're right: I didn't realize Live can receive Midi input even when not in the foreground.

So, that means I can't send any midi from Logic to Live even though both instances of Connector show they are connected.

Any help would be much appreciated.
Blue Cat Audio wrote: Mon Feb 07, 2022 9:10 am That's really odd. Are you sure that the keyboard notes are not sent directly from the keyboard to Live, and not thru the plug-in? I don't see why there would be any difference.

All right, so the issue is probably with the setup in Live. Have you checked that you follow the guidelines in the FAQ below?

What's wrong? Is there something I didn't do right? I have every firewall rule that was needed already set up. Is there some support team to fix the issue?
You probably want to contact support and give us more details about the problem. Are you using the IP address on Mac to target the PC? computer name does not work by default on Mac.

Yes that's the idea. Please remember that this ASIO driver is currently just a preview, coming straight out of the lab, that's why there is no tutorial yet.

The ASIO driver is simply a slave driver for Connector, so the app using it will just respond to Connector sending input data by sending back the audio data to the output (which can be connected to a different slave driver again for daisy chaining, or to another instance of Connector). It's just as if you were using 2 instances of Connector in the slave app, as explained in this tutorial to offload plug-ins processing to another computer, except that this is done at the driver level, so it helps with apps that cannot host plug-ins. I hope this clarifies.

Also, to make sure that you get the lowest latency (usually one single buffer in the best conditions) and no dropouts, please make sure that the Connector ASIO driver uses the same buffer size as the master app. You can use a different sample rate for both, but you will have to adapt the buffer size in this case.

Do you mean surround support? Multi channel from multiple instances of Connector into the driver is a different story, unfortunately.

Have you checked our FAQ about how to record audio from the output of connector? You usually need to use an aux track to record its output into another track.

I don't know exactly for live, but you usually need to create an extra track to record audio into the DAW from the output of the plug-in (see the FAQ post about that). To record MIDI, it's actually pretty simple, just setup a MIDI track which input is the MIDI out of the connector instance. Just like for regular MIDI routing in Live.

multichannel wav, so that an app with say 4 outputs can output a 4channel wav or as you mention, surround of whatever channel count

Thanks for the reply Blue Cat Audio, it looks like I'll have to use Albeton Live's Send & return Tracks.

I'll give it a go later on.

I cannot get Connector to work in the following set-up.

I have Ableton Live 11 and Vienna Ensemble Pro 7 server running on the same Win 10 PC. I am trying to send the audio from Live into VE Pro. VE Pro then sends that audio and multiple other channels to Cubase on another PC over the local network.

I insert an instance of connector on Live's Master output channel, set it to send audio only to local host, port 8080. In VE Pro, I insert an instance of connector on a channel and set it to receive mode, local host, port 8080. The "send" instance of connector in Live shows it is receiving audio input. But the "receive" instance of connector in VE Pro will not show a connection and remains "Not connected". I have tried changing port numbers without success.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

By the way, I have tried sending the audio from Live to Cubase directly, but cannot get a usable audio feed even if i raise buffers/packets to maximum. That may be because there is interaction with other VE Pro instances I am running on other machines.

Post

I don't know how VE Pro works, but if it's like most DAWs, you will probably have to enable input monitoring on the channel to get it to stream audio thru the plug-in, as explained here.
