When do you think Logic Pro 11 will come out?

Latest updates are still a big big mess for me, the smaller the project the faster it seems to crash ... 1 min of audio-editing usually is the limit. I even did a clean install of the system without any improvement so I deeply hope there's a bigger update any time soon in the pipeline

I haven't had a single Logic crash for several years. The worst I get is maybe something silly, like a focus bug where I can't click on something for a couple of seconds. And that only happens once in a blue moon.

Yeah, that is about my experience too... a crash from time to time and no work lost.Ploki wrote: Thu Jan 12, 2023 1:41 pm It crashes for me from time to time (there were some bass amp designer bugs, and plugins sometimes misbehave), but it has such a robust autosave now i can't remember the last time i actually lost work. Years.
Also the plugins crashing doesn't crash logic anymore (generally)

it'd be nice if they could do something interesting/user friendly w/the environment window/functionality.
also, i'd like to be able to adjust mixer channels like this to increase resolution when writing automation using the faders. gets pretty absurd when ya get near the bottom of the fader's travel.

I’m on the latest and use it 8-10 hours a day. Maybe 1 crash in the last month. Yeah.
I agree that Apple won't probably go sub for their DAW as it doesn't make sense imo when they use their pro apps as a selling point for their hardware. That being said Apple expected higher sales of the MBP than they actually sold according to some rumors so they may be looking to make up revenue elsewhere. But I don't think they are going sub for their software. Selling plugins or a plugin store? Possible.
The hiring of the UA dude sounds interesting but I'm looking at it more from the perspective of what he bought to both Pro Tools and UA, hardware/dsp accelerated plugins. That could be something Apple is interested in now that they have full control of the hardware. There is nothing stopping them from dropping in a some DSP chips or adding silicon to their chips that can help accelerate audio tasks.
I'm sure something like Luna with it's ultra low latency tracking with plugins and its modern architecture is probably really interesting to Apple as they start looking for more key ways to differentiate their hardware from their Intel based systems. I don't see any of this coming into fruition until after they've moved away from Intel completely though.

I get crashes every now and then but since Apple now has the AU plugins as a service they essentially run in a different process than Logic so when they crash they are less likely to take the whole DAW with them (like Bitwig). However I do get occasional crashes for non-plugin related tasks in Logic.superscan wrote: Thu Jan 12, 2023 4:50 pmI’m on the latest and use it 8-10 hours a day. Maybe 1 crash in the last month. Interesting that they hired a guy from UA, the rest of that video is just empty typical "influencer hot takes", i.e. hot smoldering dung. The only way I see a plug in store working is through the App Store and even then they aren't selling their own plug ins or add ons, and developers probably wouldn't be jumping through hoops to pay App Store tax on AU's they currently are selling directly to customers.

he's not the first person to come over from UA. i have friends who worked for UA years ago and came over to apple a few years back. this kind of hire is nothing unusual. the logic/pro audio/whatever at apple pulls from everywhere and so do other companies. it's standard practice. the industry works like any other in a lot of ways. people get better offers and leave to a new job.. sure, sometimes there's a specific project or new department etc involved but often it's just someone moving up in the world.

Is this an option or the default way Logic works?apoclypse wrote: Fri Jan 13, 2023 12:16 am ...since Apple now has the AU plugins as a service they essentially run in a different process than Logic so when they crash they are less likely to take the whole DAW with them (like Bitwig). M1 logic works like that, rosetta/intel logic doesn't, afaiklightsfadelow wrote: Fri Jan 13, 2023 5:01 amIs this an option or the default way Logic works?apoclypse wrote: Fri Jan 13, 2023 12:16 am ...since Apple now has the AU plugins as a service they essentially run in a different process than Logic so when they crash they are less likely to take the whole DAW with them (like Bitwig).
