You guys really dropped the ball on this one I'm afraid. KVR is one of the more colourful places online wrt music production software, but the sub only model with quite high pricing really; an extra $10/month gets you the entire UVI catalogue for example, hasn't been well received on your marketing partners YT videos either and YT, in my experience at least, tends to be more balanced. And talking of said partners, you didn't do yourself any favours by waiting until after they had already created their content before breaking the news that it would be sub only. Do you think they will want to work with you again after pulling a stunt like that?Minimal Audio wrote: Wed Oct 11, 2023 6:46 pm Hey everyone, just want to share that we are aware of this thread as painful as it is to read. I want to apologize for that tweet about pricing, it was in direct response to a discussion -- and it was an expression, not an MSRP for Current, or an official stance. We are obviously unable to respond to every comment and are aware some people are extremely disappointed. We are not "doubling down" -- but Current as of right now, is directly tied to the Stream, unlimited downloads, and no restrictions over any of our products be it perpetual or subscription. We cannot change that so quickly and after years of working on this, we're proud of what we've launched today. We will continue to hear you out and evaluate in the future. I hope you'll give us the benefit of the doubt that we will continue to release amazing products.
I don't mean to be rude, but were you guys living under a rock when Waves and or Bitwig tried to go sub only and change the terms of their upgrade plan, respectively? It did not go well for either of those companies and they both backtracked pretty much immediately thereafter. What makes you think you won't suffer the same fate, might I ask?
We get that developing software costs money and that running business is hard, but making the exact same mistakes that larger bigger and more established developers already made and suffered from, just seems a really, really bad move and has many of us, including your existing customers, baffled and also concerned about the future of the company.
Please think hard about what you are doing here.
