Wow. What a reason to leave a post here nobody cares about. I’ll be quick.

Yeah, some features are nice, but again, way overdue. Other DAWs have had them for years.

Bitwig keeps doing the same thing like move stuff around, slap a new tag on it. Just like they did with the mixer page.

This time, nothing revolutionary either. Which is probably good, since they’re already behind everyone and should focus on the basics first.

Instead of a proper smart tool, we get even more random tools to confuse users. Yaay.

Still missing tons of functionality people have been asking for for years. Maybe next year… hard to believe though.

And the big ones… Clippy and Spray Paint. Seriously? Are we back in Windows 95? Looks awful. Pure cringe.

Yeah, both the thin blue lines and the blue "Adapt to Key" background mode don't look great yet, I can imagine that those will be tweaked during the beta period.

Reminder that this forum has an ignore function ("Add foe") and that quoting entire posts like that circumvents that.

It looks like Add and Multiply relative options are gone and there's no way to do the same.
Hopefully they will enable multiple automation lanes for the same parameter, and the ability to specify if an automation clip is absolute (default), additive, or multiplicative... in a future update. It would be great to have overlapping/aggregating automation clips for a single parameter on the arranger view, for more ambient/longer pieces.
I just tried it out a bit. I made an Automation Clip on a tracks Volume. Then I made a Macro at the track level and assigned it to Track Volume and made an Automation Clip for it. I have both of those AC's in the Clip Launcher and they are controlling the track volume while the Arranger Midi clip on that track is playing notes.

It's absurdly powerful as is... and easy to have multiple active lanes for the same parameter this way.

Leave Clippy out of this buddy

Yeah, that does work... but means you need to dip into macros, which I rarely if ever use. It would just be nicer (for me) to see the individual things in automation lanes/clips. I appreciate that other DAWs don't allow that as well, but if I can assign different lanes/clips to different macros, that all target the same parameter, it doesn't seem too much to ask to just have multiple clips/lanes for that parameter.

For now, I'll just end up having a lot of macro knobs to be 'pretend' duplicate lanes :dog:

Indeed. I was also hoping for better overall performance with the new graphics but ChatGPT told me it's worse. I'll be waiting with activating my upgrade plan.

They have a whole heading in the release notes related to clip launcher display improvement: https://downloads.bitwig.com/6.0%20Beta ... r-displays

Seems like a live performance improvement?

Cheer up! :) the appearance and function is identical.

And of course Macros can also modulate multiple parameters so now we can have Automation Clips controlling lots of stuff at once.
We can have midi clips playing in Arrange while at the same time Automation Clips on the same track can be playing in the Launcher, with Next Actions, and so on.

It's all pretty spectacular :tu:

I'm not unhappy. I should stress that. I'm very happy with the improvements, and it's opened far more ideas now, to play with. I just want it to be even better :hihi:

(and to crash less for a beta... day one is always fun - I am reporting the crashes though)

You're absolutely right that it's all pretty spectacular :hyper:

Are you joking? You asked chatgpt if new beta software released hours ago performed better and used that to inform your decision? fwiw, I find bitwig feels snappier, sturdier, slicker than ever

I hope so. The blue highlighting feels like too much contrast, and the thin blue snap lines feel too thin and hard to see.

It's worse since the previous graphics upgrade. Not taking chances now. That's all I'm saying.
Bitwig it great! I'm a Premiere badge owner. But it's not only halleluja.
As a live performer I don't feel heard. Asked for some simple features that are being ignored.
