U-He gets criticized for letting Diva get superseded by newer synths, including U-He's Repro. They get criticized for poor UX. They got a ton of criticism for taking 20 years between Zebra versions.

I think every developer gets criticized. Whether or not you think the criticism is justified is a matter of opinion. I'm down on N.I. because they basically stopped development on a lot of instruments that I liked a lot...
The difference is that Zebra 3 finally showed up and it's a significant upgrade from Zebra 2.
Imo! Absynth 6 is not a significant upgrade from Absynth 5 (i really like Absynth and still use V5).
Another difference is that hearing U-he say that they don't have the resources to quickly pump out upgrades is not the same as hearing NI say similar. Perhaps if the suits hadn't taken over NI and alienated and/or fired most of their creative team things would be different? People asked for Zebra 3 and they/we got it. People asked for Reaktor 7 and we got "it's depricated" translated to "not enough DJs will buy it and that is now our target market, tough sh!t for all of our OG supporters who want upgraded versions of our synthesizers."

The vst market is so saturated now that i don't know what NI could release that is not simillar to what is already out on the market now.

They should focus on keeping their released products updated and maybe improve some of them where it is needed :)

Apart from that; yeah...fm8 update, Reaktor update, battery update.......get those back into the present day
Reaktor is/was a maha workstation synth. It needs an maha upgrade.

Wait, has anyone actually bought this $99 one-trick pony?
Show of hands, please.
Not me, i couldn't be much less interested in a synth.

I imagine for people that like the "HyperPop" sound, this would be a welcome release and for those that don't like that sound, they would just take a pass? Right? It's a pretty targeted product. What's the problem with that?

$99 is a lot for what is essentially a preset.

This is kind of synth I can only expect on April 1st.

Cool. Don't buy it.

But if you do buy it, you can take it off your taxes as a "charitable giving."

For the few of you who haven't figured it out yet, this low-effort, high-pricetag plugin is a last gasp cash grab. They're trying desperately to get some quick positive cashflow with minimal investment.

So if you're feeling charitable, you can contribute $99 to the NI bailout fund. And you get this lovely decorative gift bag with your generous donation.

These types of specialty synths from NI are always ways of getting us to buy a version of Komplete upgrade. Seriously from Razor to Super 8 or whatever it was called, personally I would rather this than another useless to me PLAY ROMpler?

This IMO is no different than the Memorymoog emulation from Arturia, most of us aren't rushing out to buy it for $99, but couple it with a few more odd little synths and we might upgrade our bundle for $150-199. Does anyone buy separate synths from either of these companies?

Out of curiosity, did you buy it?
I'm still trying to find one person who has actually bought it... and will admit to it without reservation or embarrassment.

I haven't. But I'm actually kind of interested after watching the walkthrough vid. Sonically it sounds more varied and interesting than I would have thought. At $100 I'd really like a demo though. If I change my mind, you'll be the first to know!

It sounds very "of the time". I can hear tones in there that wouldn't be out of place on a Flying Lotus track (just to give an example of one artist you might not think of when seeing this synth).

Good point. I bought the Absynth 6 update because I got caught up in the hype when I probably would have been better off holding out for the next Komplete upgrade. I don't know what else was in the Komplete upgrade though. If it was a bunch of "player" Kontakt things and "expansions" I guess I wouldn't have been terribly interested.
