Are you using your own modem? I think you need 16 x 4 to get the big speeds. If that makes no sense, then I've got it confused. Anyway, my personal modem is 8 x 4 and it limits me to 110 Mbs or so. If I use the cable company modem or buy a 16 x 4, I'll get 300Mbs. It took months to squeeze that info out of my ISP.wagtunes wrote:
Meh. It'll have to do.
How do you guys get such great download speeds. I'm supposed to be on 100 Mb/S.
So much for Comcast "Crappy" Cable.
It's ridiculous actually, I have no use for this kind of speed most days, it's actually the 2nd fastest with this provider, the top one is twice this speed at 1Gb per sec. I'm going to downgrade to 250mbs in a month or so.

Hey Man, I'm from Dublin originally, I remember the days of using a 14k modem in my shitty bedsit in Rathgar, would take hours to load a page of plain text. Although net speeds have increased a bit now when I visit the folks.Robmobius wrote:Pity us Irish... Corrupt government, Leprechauns and 3rd world internet speed.
Did not check the latest prices but for 1Gbit/s you'd pay a fortune in Germany - in any case much more than about 100 Euro your provider wants (or similar for the other speed/contracts).lotus2035 wrote:It's ridiculous actually, I have no use for this kind of speed most days, it's actually the 2nd fastest with this provider, the top one is twice this speed at 1Gb per sec. Ah cool... I know Rathgar well. I've emigrated down to Kildare.lotus2035 wrote:Hey Man, I'm from Dublin originally, I remember the days of using a 14k modem in my shitty bedsit in Rathgar, would take hours to load a page of plain text. Since the start of the year here in Sweden the speeds have shot way up while the prices have stayed pretty much the same across the board. It's about 60 euro per month for 500mbs but like I said I'm going to drop down to half that speed (and price) as soon as possible.elassi wrote:Did not check the latest prices but for 1Gbit/s you'd pay a fortune in Germany - in any case much more than about 100 Euro your provider wants (or similar for the other speed/contracts).lotus2035 wrote:It's ridiculous actually, I have no use for this kind of speed most days, it's actually the 2nd fastest with this provider, the top one is twice this speed at 1Gb per sec.
