Yeah, any midi guitar is not the same as a real guitar and requires certain approaches which speak to a cleaner and simpler plan of attack. But that only works if the midi guitar puts out just what you put into it, and right now, all too often for me, the YRG puts out more and less at the same time.

But hope springs eternal. They have guys thinking about this stuff, they know about the multi-triggering and sensitivity issues. The CP will get better, and the firmware as well.

So SoundLoop

What is your take on the ztar so far?

As far as kids trying to learn and have fun on a yrg. I totally see that as well.

After three resets with the YRG I still can't get one single sound to generate from the internal sounds. The lights are on and no one's home.

From the limited amount of time that I've had to dig into it so far, I like it. It works very well, and the neck feels nice on it, as well as the string triggers (using standard a strings).

I have not even touched on what the ztar is capable of yet, from reading the manual it's incredibly deep and cusomizable.. I'm hoping to get deeper into it over the coming weeks..

If you want to get some sense of the integrity of Inspired:

1) They set up their bogus forum supposedly to "hear" from users. Right.

2) So I go on there and accurately report my experience, echoed by many others, about the multiple triggering and non-triggers, and the fact that the current CP settings don't solve those 2 critical issues. Nothing more than a lot of guys have reported.

3) This Inspired guy attacks me in the forum with this whole silly bullying attitude as if I don't have a right to criticize the product, on the very site they claim to want feedback on the product. Sweet.

4) Then they demand I send them the YRG back. No, I'm not kidding, they literally DEMAND it!

5) A guy starts sending me PMs insisting, demanding I give him my personal phone number and address in a tone dripping with hostility and confrontation.

6) I tell them no. My unit is just like the rest of them. Same problems. Why would I go through that hassle and lose a $215 possession for no reason? Obviously they want to pronounce my unit 100% perfect and make the problems all mine.

7) So I politely reply this to the nut job attacking me in their forum carefully explaining as above the hows and whys. And they simply remove my response.

They leave this nasty ad-hominem attack post against me for reporting problems with their unit (as so many others have), and then de facto ban me from their site.

They want me to give all my personal info to a bunch of hostile strangers attacking me personally in a forum and making wild and unfounded accusations about me. Yeah, right. I might be crazy enough to do that.

Man, these guys are some seriously twisted dudes. If their software and firmware updates are as lame as their customer support, which consists of attacking and ridiculing customers who report problems, this is one messed up unit that will never work right.

I've upgraded and updated everything. I tweaked the strings and bridge plate as per their instructions. I tweaked the CP according to their recommendations. And the dropouts and multiple triggers still render the unit useless. And I'm hearing the same thing from other users.

So for my troubles, they ban me from their site and demand their unit back.

Sweet. Welcome to the Midi Guitar Mafia! Beware the goons of Inspired Instruments.

Post

thats some kinda f**ked up man. i read all your posts and NONE were angry or close to ban worthy. you were just stating your case. ALL of your problems are the EXACT same as mine.

Yeah, they're having a hard time dealing with reality, so now they're moving to crush anybody who tells the truth about the product.

I'm not of the belief that it's a worthless hunk of junk. I think they can make improvements on the firmware and software front, and users will tweak for weeks and eventually with enough CP research and trial and error we may be able to make it playable, at least in a basic, functional way. Without expecting fancy hammer-ons and slides of course. But I'd be happy without note dropouts and multiple triggers.

The company though, from the very outset of my dealings with them where they had debited my bank account early and then denied it even when shown my actual bank statement. Then launched an email hate spew at me for proving them wrong. Unfreaking believable.

I swear, it's like dealing with the mob with these punks. Creepiest retail experience...EVER!

Let's face it, these are hustlers who pitched us with highly misleading video demos promising something nowhere close to the actual product, and they're desperate. They're right on the edge, they cut a lot of corners, but they did have a good idea with the active fretboard and no-lag midi out, and it might eventually work.

But they can't sell these into the toy retail chains at $200. That's a non-starter. And the midi guitar market is tiny, and they've just whizzed on it to boot with their CSR behavior.

I give these guys 6 mos. tops. Then the website goes dark and the magic message goes up:

"We are currently in reorganization.Thank you for supporting Inspired Instruments products!"

That's very unfortunate.

There was a lot of prolonged hype and marketing with no tangible product, which was probably done to try and raise more capital from investors to get things rolling. They had to have known the problems with their product along the way.

Now that the product is in people's hands and not living up to the hype, I'd guess they are trying to silence the criticism to minimize any financial hits to the company and it's investors.

If the tide starts to shift as people realize that the product doesn't quite live up to their expectations, then there's potentially only a short time window in which to recoup and get profit out for their endeavors. Add to that, you've got competing products from Starr Labs and Fender coming out, which makes timing crucial. Criticism, however constructive or polite, does not help to that end.

Dude that is roughed up. Yeah even before the new "official" I'd get the occasional mystery email regarding YRG asking me for personal detais.

I could get into a lot of stuff KK told me before release but I'm done with that the product and the company for good.

As for the company and investors. Seriously is that any way to treat investors. They are being jacked around pretty hard. First he takes the money then he say's it's going to take more money to get the initial investment back or they'll lose everything.

It's got Madoff written all over it. If I were an investor I'd be investing in a hitman and a cfo replacement.

Is it yourockplanet.com?

I tried to go there twice and just got redirected to a bogus spammy virus detection site www2.feelfree32.co.cc (don't click)..

One of those lame ones where it "scanned" my system and found a bunch of windows viruses, showing the insides of my computer and hard drives.. funny how my mac suddenly changed into a pc ;-)

It's javascript spam.. if I turn off js in firefox it doesn't show up..

That's just lame. Anybody else get that?

I suggest anyone who was redirected to another site, backup their C: drive as soon as you possibly can, you have a virus now, and it's deadly.
If you see a message pop up on your screen at any time that sez it has detected a virus on your system and tells you to install their program...it's too late for you, your already infected. It's just a matter of time. Wipe your C: drive...or at least back up your pictures/music and so forth so when the storm hits, you can re-format then.
It may get so bad quickly that it will not allow you to re-format. All you can do is to add that drive to a system with it's own C: drive. You name the infected drive with another letter, then reformat it.

It prompted me to download a file, but I didn't. I also have updated virus scanning installed and running, and I'm on a mac running osx, so I'm not quite convinced.

What exactly was it? An injection attack on the YRG forum or something? It was obviously a javascript redirect of some sort.

Did you get this popup as well? Details would be appreciated.

Post

I know your on mac. I would believe mac is impervious to the attack...but it's real for PCs. I've had this sort of virus in the past...it's the worst. It destroys everything.

On the local news, I heard it was going around again.
Someone attached it to the http://yourockplanet.com/index.php site as a redirect. Something like it was on the Inspired Instruments site a few weeks ago. It's gone now.

It just happened within the last hr or so.

For PCs, even if you think your protected, don't connect, it's not worth the risk.
I'll report when it's been cleaned..if you like.

If your on PC , and it prompted you, it could already be too late. You don't need to dload the whatever or buy the program...it works like a Trojan, reproduces itself, and invites friends.

Soundloop.
Your antivirus was not customized to block an http. redirect. Most virus programs don't have this feature set-on as default, yours, for example.
If you do have an antivirus program and your a PC, you can set it to block a redirect, best set it up.
Might be in the firewall section...forget...

Thanks for the info. Virus' do really suck, as do injection attacks on websites. They obviously expoited a vulnerability with that forum software.

If you've been redirected to the bad site, I would guess that unless you download and install the "fix" file after it "scans" and detects the phony virus', you should be ok. I was prompted to download the payload at the end of it, but of course did not.

I'd suggest an up to date scan with good anti virus software for anyone who got redirected.

I just scanned using clamXav and Virus Barrier X5 for mac, so far nothing.

I've edited my reply just above your soundloop. I guess you didn't have the chance to read the edits yet.
If you see any evidence of this redirect, it might be too late. That was the case when it was around a few yrs back. You don't need to do anything and your f**ked.
This is true for PC.

Yikes, thanks for the heads up! These guys are dangerous all kinds of ways.

Well, you guys have a good handle on the situation. No question the delays were about financing, not technical. There are aspects of an internet scam here, what with the absurd overpromising in the demos and pitches, and then endless postponements. Of course they used the number of pre-orders to raise more money, cycle after cycle. Overtones of pyramid schemes and bubbles. And now direct attacks on anybody criticizing their product. Ugly stuff.

We probably all have collector's items here. Doubt they can sell any past us early adopters. Especially when the word gets out that they don't work well enough for practical recording work. And as a game controller at that price point...fahgedaboudit. Toys and KB and Best Buy wouldn't touch this thing in a hazmat suit. Price point is everything in toys.

I'm going to give it a few weeks and see if they can actually get some working software out the door. I may be able to make some use of it beyond burglar-bashing.
