So I've got NI Komplete 9 Ultimate.

If I 'update' via NI directly on their site to K11 Standard for $199 and use a $25 voucher I still have, that'll cost me $174. And will they give me another $25 voucher for this purchase?

Then does anyone know how much they charge to update to ultimate 11 from there? Is it another $199? And then another voucher is given?

So is it possible for me to split this into two purchases and actually save $50? So $349 instead of $399? And still end up with one unused voucher?

They charge $400 to update to ultimate from a lower ultimate.

The cost of K11 Std to K11 Ultimate "upgrade" is $599, according to the NI site.

Quite unlikely.

When I login I have an option for 'upgrade' for $399 and another option for 'update' for $199. Thats to 11 Standard.
'Update' to 11 Ultimate is $399.

'Update' to 11 Ultimate is $399.
Not all options are effective for everyone but let's assume you succeed to pay $199 to "update" to K11 Std.
What you end up with having are, K9 Ulimate and K11 Std.

From there, you should still be able to pay $399 to "update" your K9 Ultimate to K11 Ultimate.
Alternatively, you may opt for payting $599 to "upgrade" K11 Std to K11 Ultimate.

You should carefully read the description and figure out which product you are going to "update".
Assuming you qualify for the K11 Std "update" option, you must have a qualifying product. Perhaps that is an old Komplete Std (let's say K7 as an example) that you used to upgrade to K9 Ultimate. Somehow NI likely shows your old K7 base license as a qualifying product. In that case, what you are paying $199 for really is, to update the old K7 to K11 Std.
TBH, it doesn't make much sense to me.

Hi Rational,

_emanon_ make it perfect clear.

Should you update to K11 from your K9U doesn't matter because an upgrade from K11 to K11U is still 599. So you better stick with the update path within Ultimate: K9U to K11U for 399.

I think I understand. mladi, you are saying if I upgrade my K9U to K11S, I lose my original 9U status and it costs me then $599 to go from 11S to 11U? Really? So all my old 9U products are no longer mine to use? Is that right? If so, that sounds silly to me that they would do that.
Sounds like it would then cost $199 + $599 taking that path. No thanks. If so, thank you for pointing that catch out.

So thank you for the input. Perhaps its best if I ask NI directly so we have a confirmed answer.

I'm just trying to see if I can split the $399 into two separate payments/upgrades to distance them apart in time and my budget, and perhaps be able to get/use some additional vouchers in the process.

And just to keep the nomenclature clear, it's "update" status of K9U to K11U for $399. "Upgrade" status is actually $599. Crazy right? Who would "upgrade"?

Emanon, Continuing to read your reply I better see what you're talking about. I need to notice what I'm 'updating' from in the selection dropdown. Thank you. It says for $399 "As an owner of KOMPLETE 8 ULTIMATE MK2 Crossgrade you qualify to install and activate this version." That's going to 11U. The "upgrade from 8-11 option is the $599 price. It says "This upgrade only works for users of KOMPLETE 8-11."

Weirder still, it says "None of the qualifying products are registered to your account email@domain.com" ... Huh?? My products are definitely registered, or service center wouldn't be saying activated and downloading them, right? Or is there something I need to do to tie them to my email address? I bought them directly from NI. This makes me wonder if there is even better pricing if I get my email attached to it and showing as 'registered'?

Oh, NI, you make my life so difficult...

Just bought a copy of UVI Synth Legacy from you Uncle E. Thank you.
Grabbed Waves Center yesterday from you too.

Legacy says it's not a valid serial number over at UVI, but I'm guessing that it takes awhile to update with them when buying from you? My earlier serial for UltraMini registered fine just now. But I bought that a week or more ago. So that had time to settle.

Now I'm curious what the typical time to wait should be before trying to register again.

As i understand their policy is that your K9U is the base product you can use for any given update/upgrade to either K11 or K11U. So to answer your question: No, I don't think you'll lose yor K9U because it stays your base product (that is also the reason why you should better not sell K9U after an upgrade, you need the base product otherwise you would lose the function of the upgrade/update).

So it make no sense pricewise to use it the way you intended (update from K9U to K11 first, then from K11 to K11U). Anyway, the safest way is to ask NI support directly of course, that's always true. :)

Probably something has gone wrong. I'll work on it and get back to you.

I bought it yesterday and registered in 5 minutes, so it might be an error on their part,,,

Thanks Uncle E. Thanks autodafe. I appreciate it.
Just tried again and it still says its not a valid serial number. I'll wait to hear back before trying it again.
