Yeah, having the lib section is nifty, but users shouldn't really have to pay that much extra just for that.ghettosynth wrote:Yes, but I think that the point that he was making was that the NI fees make player libraries more expensive in general than non-player libraries for similar content. Since you can't get that particular library as non-player it might be moot, but in any case, I think that's what was meant.Uncle E wrote:If they have the Kontakt Player license, doesn't that mean it opens up in the library section of Kontakt (as opposed to using the browser) and is thus easier to access?Numanoid wrote:As you got Komplete and thus Kontakt, buying a third party Kontakt Player lib means that out of the price of Epica you are paying $50-60 (I guess) just to get the Kontakt Player compatability which you don't need as you got Kontakt.Kalamata Kid wrote:edit: Would Epica be a good alternative?

Epica aint bad, but overpriced if you got Kontakt IMO
In the end loading nki patches from the file browsers isn't that much different, or less user friendly.
And the best thing is when you got the preset browser in the actual Kontakt GUI, like in Cassetto. That means if you midi learn a knob, that knob stays midi learnt if you change the patch.

Native Instruments charges for the copy protection, which isn't terribly expensive except they make developers pay for the licenses up front. Kontakt Player compatibility is just part of the deal.

Thanks to Uncle E for the toontrack sale (which is a few bucks less than their store)
Been waiting for "progressive" to go on sale for a long time
(I know it's been a while, I'm slow)

This is tempting. I don't need another reverb. I really don't. But I've always had an eye on these, and they have been way out of the range of what I would spend on a reverb. But now they are around $203 in cart at JRR for the PCM Native bundle.Uncle E wrote:60% off all Lexicon plugins, the lowest prices ever! Automatic extra discount in cart at JRR Shop:
www.jrrshop.com/lexicon
Lexicon LXP Native Reverb Plug-in Bundle $79
Lexicon MPX Native Reverb Plug-In Bundle $39
Lexicon PCM Native Effects Plug-In Bundle $199
Lexicon PCM Native Reverb Plug-in Bundle $239
Lexicon PCM Total Bundle $399
I don't hear many people talk about these though. I'm downloading the demo, but curious if others have thoughts on how they compare to the competition?

You were/are a victim of a crime with their product (stolen credit card) of which you have no idea is stolen unless they (the credit card companies) tell you... it's a crime that the credit card companies get away with this. They have a weak faulty system that you have to unfairly shoulder the cost for. Even their new chip based cards are a joke and even easier to steal undetected when using at a card machine. That multi-trillion dollar industry is the bully of the market place.Uncle E wrote:We lost over $20,000 dues to credit card fraud over the last year and had to turn off credit card processing for many countries.

It's better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

I hadn't seen the price in cart. That is looking better. Unfortunately, still beyond my means. Or, better said, more than my frugal wife will allow me to spend on flexing my gear whore muscles.Uncle E wrote:A better sale was the Suite + Push 2 Bundle that was on sale earlier this year. However, for current Ableton users, the current Push 2 sale ($607 in cart) is the very lowest it's ever been.anxiousmofo wrote:Another weak ass sale by Ableton. Any of these prices, including Push 2, can be had multiple times a year using one of the "personal" discount codes GC or other major outlets dish out like candy. I guess they just can't bear offering a 30% discount any more.
Oh well.
I suppose I could tell her it is a finger exercise machine.

Out of curiosity, do they allow one or two authentications?Uncle E wrote:I'm actually curious what you think of the PCM Native Effects.koolkeys wrote:I don't hear many people talk about these though. I don't know and I don't see anything about it on their site. Isn't iLok always just one authentication?ghettosynth wrote:Out of curiosity, do they allow one or two authentications?

No, and it makes a difference for me for some things. iZotope is always one. Eventide has been two, AIR is at least two, I think it might even be three.Uncle E wrote:I don't know and I don't see anything about it on their site.
