How would you do that ? :o :-o  :?

X modeler + convolution:

Not saying It's better or worse... It's quite harsh compared to the original but still useable, what do you think?

By the time this plug sees the light of day, we'll have guitars made of sci-fi and be playing them directly into our brains via flux capacitors...

Really not bad. :)
Quite different, but good.

Please try with this.

and no, there is no curve eq in my amp.

I also like most of the older mp3 demos more. ;)
They are more... hm, my amp creation, my taste.
To tune up the old engine was hard work,
but all is still in there, you can still dial up
the exact same old tones.

Only now modeling things got easier for me and way more flexible
and that is great for all. :)

but you'll still be acting like a two year old

There is only one problem with convolution, you can't play it live :(

Yes, you have a point.

What is Convolution?

Yes, nice !
A bit to grany, distortion not dense enough.
Anyway great result. :)

What did you use, how did you do that ?

I don't wanna make free advertising for them so let's say it's from a big company(that has been a bit -unfairly- mocked around here). They made a decent job, I think.
I agree about the distortion character though. It's not bad, but not outsanding. Supposed to be a "double rectum" :D which is quite grany in real life.
Then CurveEQ...

I'm a bit confused since Burny's intervention. Are you talking about a convolution software or an ampsim ? Where, in the signal chain, does the convolution kick in then ? I'm not sure I got it...

And Convolution is..... ????

Just on a side not about Peavey, I've never been a fan of Peavey stuff, from the 5150 to their bass combo's, but I hear very nice things about the Peavey Classic (which is by no means a metal amp). I know I don't care for the Fender DeVille's, and price wise the Classic is right there, and I can't imagine it being much worse. I had a friend who picked up a DeVille and has since regretted not getting the Classic, which he also demo'd but liked better. Only reason he didn't get it is because he had to put the amp on his Guitar Center card and GC didn't have the Classic. So, maybe Peavey ain't so bad. They could certainly be improving.
I'm sorry this post wasn't about techno.

It's when you sort of "steal" the characteristics of a given amp/fx/whatever unit.
Usually you would send a defined test tone (guess the most common one would be a quick sweep through all frequencies) through the equipment you're going to "adapt". The convolution unit would then analyze the recorded results of that and create a similar effect to anything you send through it.
The most common useage for this method these days would be reverbs, but as of lately, a lot of other "impulse responses" are becoming popular.

Look for SIR reverb (which can be used for any other impulses as well) to check things out (it's free). Then probably head over to www.noisevault.com for some free impulse responses you could load into SIR.

well like I said it is subjective...Peavy has improved and they always have been built like tanks...as much as peavey has changed though, so have I...a rackmount system works best for me now...but the power does come from Peavey...
