Is that an intentional typo?

I'm gonna stick around, but don't let that stop you from taking your own advice.
Surely there must be consensus by now...

somehow it seems more accurate that way.

PC-people can just stick with T1 or T2 - if they don't need dual-core support
There's far more advantages/features in T3 than dual-core support.ople.
That was not my point...

What about Logic?
Good point - forgot about that one! Still, their hardware they make is inherently computer based, wouldn't you agree?

Not the same for Mackie.

More to the point, Logic was purchased by, and is developed by, Apple purely for the purpose of shifting their hardware. To the best of my knowledge, Tracktion was never bought by Mackie to push much of anything in their line-up. You could draw a much closer parallel between Logic and ProTools than you can between Logic and Tracktion.

This kind of dovetails back in to your earlier point as to why the hell Mackie ever did decide to enter the software territory, which is something I've never quite worked out either. It's not a comfortable fit for them to be sure. I could understand it a little better if I felt that Mackie were trying to get into the solutions game. If they were selling 'all you need' suites complete with 624s, an Onyx input set, and Tracktion at a favourable price, I'd understand. It's also likely that they saw a risk of other companies doing something similar, and felt they needed to be able to compete in that way. Certainly M-Audio surely aren't suffering from their tie in with Digi. If that ever was the strategy though, they've spectacularly failed to execute on it.

I'm prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt here and say they just plain thought T was cool. Certainly most of the people I've ever spoken to inside Mackie seem to be genuinely enthusiastic about what they do, and recording gear in general. Let's hope, where Tracktion is concerned, they still feel that way.
Someone shot the food. Remember: don't shoot food!

T is still cool, and I personally am going to be patient until they say it's cancelled or announce a newer version. If you're all in limbo, and T is unusable to you, then switch. big deal.

T is absolutely usable for me and I load it almost every night to create whatever music I feel like at the time.

how about just working with what youve got and hope for better?

The question of the OP has been answered so could people please write in the "Let's bash Mackie until some update comes out, then have 3 days of joyful posts and then continue to bash Mackie until the next upgrade (all this in an ever ongoing cycle)"-thread instead?

Sometimes i feel i've seen it all on this forum. :|

I think Beno is no longer with Mackie & Tracktion is end of the line. That easily explains the silence.
However, I still use it and love it.

Well, a tool is made to be used. I spent the whole week-end making music with it and it does what I need from a sequencer: it's simple, stable and just helps me in making music.
I think I can keep that version for months and years. It works just fine for me. You know it was a time when I didn't have an Internet connection and I was making music with Logic. I think I kept the same version for 2 or 3 years!

Usually you don't want to change your tools when you're in the process of creating things.

Of course, I expect Mackie to keep Tracktion alive.

I was in a Similar situation... When T1 went to T2 it was unicoded ( i was told this..) and it would not work on Win ME and I did not have money to upgrade my computer so I was "stuck" making music on an inferior version..

Well, Mackie hasn't eliminated his e-mail address - nothing bounces back from it with error messages.

If you search back through this forum archive, you can find his e-mail address.

Yeah, and when you click on the Tracktion 3 link, you get a 404!

That's awesome. I am still under the belief that Mackie will continue tracktion under a different name...Like "fast track" or something stupid.

You're right, the link points to /t3 instead of /tracktion3
