The whole power of Blok is that you can always easily edit the sound -and- the structure of the sound. If I'd export that to VST, I'd just be copying the whole of Blok ;-)

So.. no VST export feature.

Why should we export a VST synth to a VST plugin. Kind of stupid, or? :o

If you want to use an existing Blok synth/patch for a new patch just import that Blok synth/patch and that's it...

I have tried both synthedit and synthmaker.
They are not userfriendly and easy fast as reaktor.

A reaktor 5 clone with vst export should do the trick.
Something inbetween synthedit reaktor.

Old thread, I know. But I just bought this today and I am so incredibly happy with it. The interface is clean, it's light on CPU, it sounds f**king great...

One of the things I really appreciate is that the fixed oscillators can be set in Hz...I like to make drones that sweep across large pitch ranges, and every other softsynth I've used the only way to do that was to transpose by semitones, giving it an ugly stepping sound.

So yeah. Really pleased with this purchase, and excited to see where things go from here.

Is the BLOK project still alive?

Post

Yes!

but I was booked fulltime for clientwork for a long period...

Ive just started work on a new spline-based envelope to get myself going again!

Image

Most sliders will go away -> the little balls will be draggable. The 4 main stage-params (adsr) + the amount will have modulation inputs.

Spline env allows for some really punchy sounds!

Wow, that looks cool. When i get some time for it i'll check the latest updates for BLOK soon.

Looks very good! I'm trying the demo and it's proving to be very interesting.

Some questions if I may...

Is there ever going to be the possibility of using feedback on an oscillator? I.e. link it's output directly back to its pitch input? Or is there some means of doing so already?

And, currently the pitch of an osc can only be adjusted plus or minus an octave are there plans to extend this? Or, again, is there another way of doing this? I've tried just using a knob connected to pitch but as there's no visual feedback of what you're doing it's hard to get an accurate idea of where you are.

Thanks for your help!

That looks interesting :)

Not yet.. due to the block based nature of the processing this would give some quite strange phasing effects - I've toyed a bit with the feature, but wasn't really happy with the interaction/sound so far.. I will revisit this in the future.

This is a bit of a legacy issue I'm affraid to say... There is a "sub oscillator" that goes 2 octaves deeper if you really need it. I will address this in an update at some point, but this will break old patches. (Id rather get rid of the subosc, and unify the pitch handling further so I can also allow stuff like unison mode across all types of oscillator)

Have fun! :-)

Yeah, I guess it could make things awkward :) My main interest (at least for the moment) is in FM synthesis. I'm going to be writing some magazine articles on the subject and was quite intrigued by what BLOK could do in that realm - I noticed there were already a couple of FM patches - but obviously feedback is not essential. I can see the amazing potential too for stuff other than FM :) Though, that new envelope block is going to be wild :wheee:

I'd tried the Sub Osc and it certainly increases the range but for FM I was looking at going the other way - higher frequencies. I'll have to play around some more with adding a knob to the pitch input of the Osc and link it to a controller rather than using my mouse. I did notice with the knob that it acts kind of weird at the ends of its range. I'm actually running the Beta from your site, don't know of that makes a difference.

As an aside... are you looking for Beta testers?

I am!! :D

The logical thing then would be to continue the discussion about [Bloc] in a thread that is already deveoted to it.

Funny. I just posted about this thread in the other one (around 2 minutes before that new post here) and it seems one of the last posts here was also from me... :)

As already mentioned in that other thread this also contains the last post of Zephod, the dev of BLOK, at KVR.

Looks like the dev need to attend to his day job, and thus has little time for [Blok]

18 months since he posted that which I have quoted

Anyone heard from him recently?
