I'm way ahead of you. But they haven't responded. Surprise!

Post

I'm not really worried about getting scammed; I think they're a legitimate company. I just think they're not really completely competent when it comes to project management.

I do believe they'll ship them, I'm just impatient when it comes to new "toys". :D

I do think the thing physically looks goofy, and even goofier with the fake headstock. I do agree that it's best left without it. I'm not using it to play live though, or to win any beauty contests. It's strictly a recording tool, a tool in place of a USB keyboard like the Oxygen.

Post

Me too. I just wish the demos were way closer to fusion playing midi plug-ins than those idiotic nubie folkie finger-picking deals using ONLY THE ONBOARD SOUNDS. What are they trying to hide?

I honestly don't think III is trying to hide anything, they're just trying to sell it based on all the features. That includes the onboard sounds. If you're referring to the demos done by the one guy using all onboard sounds in fingerstyle, for some reason he seems to be particularly in love with the device for more than the rest of us see it for. That's fine, though the spamming on the various boards and mailing lists is a little tiresome for someone not actually working for the company.

Post

The obvious comparison on YT is with demos of various Roland or ZTar or whatever systems. They trigger midi sample players and they play fast, detailed runs and chords both. Real music, not some ridiculous little scale some guy is playing on his laptop. Where are those demos?

Timothy Kelly made the statement on the midiguitar group in the message quoted. I have not seen any source quoted for that info although I have posted the question to him. I _have_ seen a quote of June delivery, but it was for the UK.

Tim is a beta tester for the YRG and sometimes he has private info that he is not free to share; don't know if that is the case here.

Only the other day I got a reply from Kevin @ Inspired confirming that they would be shipped for the end of the month. DJKit here in the UK who are distributing also confirmed they were still expecting them in around the 24th of May.

So where the feck did the end of June now come from????????
It seems to have come from here;

Tim, I asked you before on another list: Where did you get the info that the May delivery date had been pushed back to June?

Thanks,

Of course the You Rock Guitar Tracks Flat Picking. Its not a Roland Rig or an external converter box that has problems reading flat picking.
Midi Fingerpicking has to track multiple strings at the same time. Flat picking in most cases does not. You can only picking one string at a time.
No one is conning anyone. I said the You Rock Guitar has always output midi velocity and it always has. I am sorry for all those who spent 1000s of bucks on Roland rigs and external converter boxes and were never happy with the midi results. But the You Rock Guitar is not a Roland Rig or a Roland Rig Clone, so you have to forget everything about Roland Rigs, good or bad, and treat the You Rock Guitar as what it is. A Technology Leap giving everyone a new kind of guitar and a new kind of midi guitar.
The You Rock Guitars Sensor Strings do not care how you pick or strum the strings. You want to use a pick, thumbpick and fingerpicks, multiple flat picks, any size flat pick, bumble bee picks, double flat picks, a banana, it outputs it correctly. The Touch Sensor strings do not care in what directions you use. Up, Down, Up Down, Sideways, they are not limited to reading one one direction picking.
You can pick as fast or as slow as you want to. Because the Touch Strings do not get confused by what is an audible pitch and what is an audible overtone.
No one is going to design and built a midi guitar that only tracks fingerpicking. That may be the dumbest idea I have ever seen posted on this forum in years of reading the posts here.
The fact that the You Rock Guitar is not a Roland Rig, is how it tracks both midi fingerpicking and midi flatpicking more accurately than any Roland Rig ever made. That is not dissing Roland. Just the facts of what new technology can do.
You Rock Guitar has promised many times that all preorders will be filled first. You are not going to be waiting in line behind Wal Mart and Best Buy for your preorder while the chain stores have You Rock Guitars. Other companies may do things that way. You Rock Guitar does not.
As far as I know preorders are going to be shipping out in the orders they were placed. I do not know how many will be going out at once and what day they start sending them out. Once the units clear customs on both ends, I am sure that You Rock Guitar will let everyone know.
Happy You Rock Guitars

First of all it's my understanding that the pre-orders are being shipped free, so I don't understand the shipping charge.

Maybe what happened is someone from III reads this list and decided, "Hey, this guy is a real pr!(k; let's sock it to him"![ggg]

PS: I'm number 187 and my account has not been charged. Incidentally, I always use a credit card for such orders instead of a debit card. It's much simpler to contest the charges and get them reversed at least up front that way.

Maruuk wrote:This wasn't PayPal, this was a straight Debit/Credit Card pre-order off their website. From which I offer this direct copy-and-paste quote:

Note that if you pre-order by Credit Card, you card will not be charged until we ship your guitar. Warning; if you use PayPal it does get deducted right away. (out of our control)

My order (straight off my account):

Order Summary:
Product Subtotal: $199.99
Tax: $0.00
Shipping & Handling: $10.64
Grand Total: $210.63

From my current bank account statement (as of 5 minutes ago):

Date Transaction
05/18/2010 TODAYS DEBIT -$210.63

Now do I have to explain what "debit" means? Ok, it means they took my money, they debited my account. The money's not there any more. They have it, I don't.

It means they lied on their website. That means they are crooks. Unless they shipped the unit today. Anybody who thinks they shipped my YRG today raise their hands.

NOTE: These guys don't have a telephone. You can't call them. Just like the discount camera stores in Brooklyn that are always under indictment by the Attorney General. No telephone number.

Now everything I have stated above is absolute fact. That said, I will endeavor to clear this up asap through whatever means necessary, I have legal representatives on retainer. If this is just some glitch or misunderstanding, I'll be the first to report that to you folks right here. I sincerely hope that is the case.

And when I use the term "crooks", I don't necessarily mean internet thieves. I mean anyone who misrepresents facts online resulting in unforeseen financial "irregularities". That violates the law in 50 states.

The headstock costs about $120 plus shipping. I think it looks a lot better without it too; but maybe a lot of kids [gamers] will pay the price if they think it looks more like a "real" guitar.

Maruuk wrote:I don't see anyone in here complaining about the look of the device, though it is vastly more handsome and cooler WITHOUT the silly fake headstock. Very Steinberger. The fake headstock guarantees it looks like a toy.

And yes, the onboard sounds are strictly for kids. Anybody in here is going to drive serious mega-samples in their DAW plug-in instruments: Grand pianos, B-3s, string orchestras, real brass sections, huge, rich synth pads. Serious stuff. Who needs tiny, tinny onboard fake guitar samples? We already play guitar, we own real guitars.

No, all I see in here are real sincere players excited about the potential of this value-packed midi guitar controller that could change the world as we know it.

Will it ship? Is this company on the level? Let's find out.

Post

Well they're sure charging for shipping now. And charging for phantom YRGs as well. These guys need a wake-up call. Tomorrow the charge comes off...or else.

When I "pre-ordered" back in January 2010 (Customer 73, Order # 118 ) - the III website stated "free shipping for pre-orders" - also they offered a bundle of YRG and Bluetooth Gameflex Cartridge for WII and PS3. for $199 .
I note that at present they state a separate Cartridge is required for each type game system.
I wonder which version I will get

However when my email order confirmation arrived it stated that a Shipping charge had indeed been applied,
==============
Order Details:

Code Item Qty Price Grand Total
YRG 1001 You Rock Guitar with Gameflex Cartridge for Wii & PS3
1 $199.00 $199.00

Subtotal: $199.00
Tax: $0.00
Shipping Cost: $10.64
Grand Total: $209.64

================

I was curious why they charged me shipping, since I was on the sign me up for pre-orders list ever since Aug. 2009.

Also curious why they omitted charging me tax, as I live in the same state as Inspired Instruments.

This was my first tip off somethings not "quite right"

I paid via a debit card - so I have been emailing Kevin once a month to find the status or ship date.

Only received a reply in mid April from Kevin stating "End of May".

I check my bank statement daily, looking for any "$209.64" charges.

At this hour nothing has popped up.

Here is one of YRG's tweets that was posted in the last few hours:

Want a You Rock Guitar? - Get on the pre-order list for May delivery - http://www.inspiredinstrumentsinc.com/default.asp
about 5 hours ago via API

They are still taking pre-orders?? Still May delivery??

The only person who seems to be quoting June is Tim. The tweets and also Kevin himself are still quoting May.

Maruuk - Anymore news on your payment??

Kevin - If you are still keeping tabs on this forum, can you please clarify if we are still on for May?

They claim they didn't "process" my order yet, but that's just semantics. Apparently a "hold" for the YRG+shipping was placed on my account (my account summary lists it technically as a "debit"), which as far as I'm concerned is the same as my not having the money anymore. And that's certainly not anything they warn you about. Basically they appear to be treating debit card transactions like PayPal transactions. If I had known that I wouldn't have ordered one.

I get one terse com from them per day, it's like pulling teeth. If they don't release the funds I'm cancelling the order. God knows when or if they're ever gonna ship these things. I wonder if they'll LET me cancel the order...

Maruuk. I can't feel more strongly about asking you to stop making accusations you can't prove. Text typed in is not a posted picture, and has no validity.

If you don't get off your psychotic rant, i'm going to ask that you be banned. This is my thread and your just not acting in a civilized manner.
-----------
For all those with "where is my guitar"problems, let me remind you it's still May, and customs is NOT predictable. I know it for a fact.

I myself determined the type of shipping when I ordered.
There was some sort of tax dropdown or something in the order page. I didn't understand how to use it so I left it blank.
And instead of going into a psychotic rant, you should be celebrating!
Read what it says at the very bottom of photo 1 above.
It appears there is a shipment on it's way to us now.

I posted the last 2 pix as a reference.

I still can't be sure the product will be perfect and some of my questions haven't been answered...but as we get ours in the post, we can come here, to this thread to talk about it.

I hope all goes well. Let's hope this starts a new and creative beginning for all guitarists!
