Nice, no maschine nerding yesterday night for me and now Mike already hacked sequencing in!
Yay!

I noticed that in Pad Mode only the Active Pad is lit up (blue) at the moment... (in previous builds all pads were yellow, the same as P4BW).
Is this awaiting the fixing of the 'drum machine pad colors fix' mentioned in this thread (or perhaps it was the Push4BW thread) in the next BWS beta?

Do you mean [PATTERN] DrumView? Pad mode colors were never yellow only drum view.taoyoyo wrote:I noticed that in Pad Mode only the Active Pad is lit up (blue) at the moment... (in previous builds all pads were yellow, the same as P4BW).

The DrumView pads only light up if its a multi channel device now. For instance, drag in a drum machine, set some channel colors on each pad. Select the track and [PATTERN], you will see lit pads for the first octave.
the bug is I can't page the drum machine or select the pads, Volker said that is fixed and coming in beta 10. The colors only work in beta 9.

In the near future i can see this coming close to how much fun it is to just build beats in front of the maschine, controlling the actual maschine software...

Dom,
Yeah I was starting to get the "Inside Maschine 2" feeling last night when i got the initial implementation of the step sequencer.
> controlling the actual maschine software..
Are you talking about controlling the VST inside Bitwig with the script, or that the script will allow a "Maschine like workflow inside Bitwig using Bitwig devices"?
When you try it, notice how sometimes the steps don't toggle right, I am 90% sure this is a Bitwig bug because the pad lighting is generic and should just work based off the information from the CursorClip. The bug seems to be in the Cursor clip since even if a step on the Maschine is deselected it is always added/removed in Bitwig.
So that makes me feel like getStep() is messed up on your end, I may be wrong but I tried the Push last night and gor some of the same behavior.

I hope i can have a play with it tonite! Sorry, I meant [PATTERN] Drum View.
Looks like the 'issue' I was experiencing is that the Drum Machine device has to be 'selected' before any colors are displayed on the Maschine pads.

Please note; There is so much in flux and really a lot of capabilities not yet "harnessed" with the script and button layout that things are still really green.
I already plan on supporting normal synths in the step sequencer where you flip the the play view, select the note you want and that is the note that gets edited, flip back to the play mode select another note and sequence it.
Anyway.

Wow,
I just got PadView selection of notes working to set the current note of the step sequencer! I am sitting here making the same type of grooves I would be in Maschine using synths and drum machines, this is so COOL!
I also got it to where you select a step in the sequencer, if there is no clip created, it creates the clip in the next slot and starts playing immediately, so you can instantly start sequencing without having to create and select a new scene slot. this is fun.
Plus with the note feedback now, you can easily keep track of where you are playing when you switch back to PadMode to select a new synth note to sequence.

Nice! Just hooked it up to give it a little late night test drive...

Works!
Funny first impression: oha, i have to turn maschine upside down, the step cursor scrolls from top to bottom while in the maschine software it goes from the bottom to the top
What was the problem when setting the steps? Seems to work flawlessly so far in the current build.
And how does the automatic clip creation work? Is it already in there or are you still testing?

Yeah, I know, I have to reverse the logic. Push goes from top to bottom, my porting didn't change that yet. Blame Moss!dom@bitwig wrote:Works!

Well on my end sometimes when you toggle off a step, the step gets removed in Bitwig but the step stays lit blue. I have to press it two more times for the pad to turn off, which essentially adds a step and removes it again in Bitwig.
> And how does the automatic clip creation work? Is it already in there or are you still testing?
Haven't committed that yet, probably tomorrow but i am probably going to have to get back to reality and work a bit in the next week.
Let me know if you see anything that you want changed.

Note: There is an existing bug in Bitwig where you add a device and its not actually selected(through the API to controller), I think this is what you may have run into. It's an annoying little bug for sure.taoyoyo wrote:Hey Mike,TeotiGraphix wrote:Do you mean [PATTERN] DrumView? Ahhh, good to know... this is probably what I've run into a couple of times with Push & Maschine scripts and been confused with (compared to how Push works with Live Devices, i.e.: always being able to select Devices from the controller)... the whole 'please select a device' message (and then having to select it from BW UI)?TeotiGraphix wrote: Note: There is an existing bug in Bitwig where you add a device and its not actually selected(through the API to controller), I think this is what you may have run into. I take it this bug has been reported and is on the radar for sorting?
