What happened to 2D wavetable synthesis, it was skipped and people went straight to space age?

It's not about sunshine and flowers really, neither me, nor other people will have a problem if someone expresses that Tone2 synths are not his cup of tea, or the copy protection sucks. It's one thing to express that once though, it's another to frequent threads like these, and leave no chance to rant about it. If the people doing so don't get that it's pissing off others, then someone has to say it. It's freaking annoying for me, because i'm interested in this synth, not in vendettas by internet individuals against the company in general. Same with Steinberg threads, or with that stupid guy who crusades against Windows 10 in every single Windows thread there is. Real internet rebellion (actually more like, rebelism), kudos.Orbit-50 wrote:Well, there's always the Tone 2 forum where everything is always sunshine and flowers.chk071 wrote:That alone shows how crappy Tone2 trheads here are.

I'd rather talk about the synth too... but the thing is, that isn't actually possible. There is no info and any beta testers like Ingo are not yet allowed to discuss it or post audio. So it is not that the focus on Tone2's marketing etc is preventing that.chk071 wrote:It's freaking annoying for me, because i'm interested in this synth, not in vendettas by internet individuals against the company in general.
Once there is an actual demo out or beta testers are free to discuss/post audio, there is a possibility to have discussion. In the current vacuum, of course this is what is going to happen.

Son of Daedalus who dared to fly too near the sun on wings of feathers and wax. Daedalus had been imprisoned by King Minos of Crete within the walls of his own invention, the Labyrinth. But the great craftsman's genius would not suffer captivity. He made two pairs of wings by adhering feathers to a wooden frame with wax. Giving one pair to his son, he cautioned him that flying too near the sun would cause the wax to melt. But Icarus became ecstatic with the ability to fly and forgot his father's warning. The feathers came loose and Icarus plunged to his death in the sea.

I will take the Lord's name in vain, whenever I want. Hail Satan! And his little goblins too.

I was about to buy Electa2 but now I'll wait. I was especially interested because of the separate arppeggiators for each layer could work very well for me. If this thing has something like that, I'll wait. If not I may go ahead and get Electa2.
Wish there was more info.

Much appreciate the response Ingonator. You answered my question better than I could ask it actually. Enough to decide on Electa2.Ingonator wrote:Icarus (so far...) has only one layer and one Arpeggiator if that helps. Icarus has the focus on wavetable synthesis and will include tons of features while some will stay exclusive to Electra 2.1 and other Tone2 synths at the moment.dblock wrote:I was about to buy Electa2 but now I'll wait. Actually Icarus is no full replacement for Electra 2.1 or other Tone2 synths but this also depends on which features you want to use. FWIW Icarus currently has more filter modes than Electra 2.1.
Thanks again for the explanation.

I guess, it's a bit too early to ask, but when we can expect some sound clips?
You may think you can fly ... but you better not try
