1. Sometimes when opening browser or other plugin window Repro 5 for few milseconds shows white lines in between modules.
This is result of fixing the "u-he editor windows move sluggish bug". That was result of fixing the "White Lines bug" which had persisted for years. Both are a direct result of how certain hosts handle window drawing beyond the expectation of the plug-in developer.

Our compromise is to have the White Lines bug (not our bug), but do a full screen update once any drag operation whatsoever is finished. This is probably the most CPU saving remedy for the underlying issue (host quirck for all we know) and something we hope everyone can live with.
2. When lowering plugin size lower then 100% whole plugin looks a little blurry and you have to turn off text aliasing to make at least text readable.
Lower than 100% is certainly not meant to be a usuability highlight, especially not on today's screen DPI. It's meant for people who have gotten to know the synth and who value screen estate in a production scenario, where they can use the synth "blindly", i.e. know where the controls are and keep an overview without actually having to read anything.
Ok, and something not usual to me, if play lower notes you can clearly hear how the filter is being cut while on higher notes it does not unless you apply Filter Envelope Amount to a 50%. Is it normal synth behaviour?
That's how it is in the hardware. Cutoff alone doesn't fully open the filter, it needs key tracking (on by default) and/or the envelope to get there.

David Else wrote:The only thing I would improve is having a method to level match the velvet effect as you turn up the drive. It would be ideal if as you turn up the input the output goes down, or something like that. Maybe holding down the ctrl key while adjusting makes its output go in the opposite direction?
We originally used the method you propose (auto make-up), but it had major downsides. With many Satin presets the Gain control would just add an audible noise floor. With other presets raising Gain would just make the sound softer. With yet others, noting audible would happen at all. These effects incurred the perception of buggy behaviour.

So we decided to meet gain and auto make-up in the middle, where turning it up would always result in a slight increase of volume, whereas turning it down would make things quite a tad softer. This keeps noise away and correlates better with people's expectation :)

WOWOWOW

This is the best synth of 2017 together with Repro-1.
It even has microtuning with presets(!!!).
Multicore and everything is working like a charm.
Many things like distortion per voice, preset search, tags, Velvet are just perfect.
World's best quality.

Here is a very quick comparison I did with my Dave Smith Prophet 8 (same sound as the rev2):

https://soundcloud.com/eivind-engedal/d ... impression

The first one is always the DSI pro8.

I have only had the Repro-5 beta for about one hour, so this is indeed a first impression. I am pretty impressed by how quick you can come up with useable presets on the Repro-5, as I used about 2 minutes to make the pad patch in the end. I think the two synths sound pretty similar, but they both have a character of their own.

Download for uncompressed sound.

I am very impressed with Repro-5!

Has a great sound and it's easy to use. CPU usage is not such a big thing also with HQ enabled...
HQ means some kind of oversampling or is it using a different "low CPU" modelling?

The legacy of a vegetarian (zebra)... that, once again, rules the world of synthesis

 :ud:

- what a offense, how insane !!!!!!

More oversampling.

Another big thank-you-it-sounds-phenomenal vote.
Urs wrote:The multicore thing was discussed a few times, it's mainly about getting some more experience with the new system. It can happen too easily that multiple instances with MC turned on crush your CPU more so than having it turned off.
FWIW I'd add my vote to the "please can MC default to on in preferences". Working with an i7 4930 in Cubase at stock, without it on often just one preset can cause the CPU to go over. With 4 cores on, it drops to 20-30% (double for HQ). Moreover, like many / most Cubase users, I make use of asioguard 2, which makes the multiple instances problem go away. Just did a simple test, and I can seemingly run as many instances as I like quite happily - with MC on and AG2 on low. So for my setup it's simple - MC on, every time.

Again, thanks for all the interminable hard work everyone at u-he put in on this.

Aah, thanks :tu:

Guys/gals, you can set up a default preset in your host and make it load every time you instantiate a plugin...

I knew it was that simple! Thanks for the reply!

Loving this soft synth a lot!
