In the drum mapping section please add note assignment via MIDI, so in other words you select the drum sound/hit and play a note on a MIDI keyboard to assign it. Some mapping presets would also help.
And as a major addition please implement per step playback probability. This seems to be a rare feature, but given the much more musical nature of Beat Scholar compared to other drum sequencers, it would be a perfect fit. I think someone else suggested this a while ago as well.
Great work so far guys.
Cheers.

Yes. These two features are top-line for me with Beat Scholar (and any other drum machine instrument like this). In fact when I asked about randomization I was specifically referring to randomizing steps/lanes in realtime while it plays, not the static approach that was implmented. Maybe it was a misunderstanding.Straight2Vinyl wrote: Sat Nov 12, 2022 1:35 pm In the drum mapping section please add note assignment via MIDI, so in other words you select the drum sound/hit and play a note on a MIDI keyboard to assign it. Realtime play step randomization. MIDI mapping and mapping presets. These would really push Beat Scholar into a unique realm compared to competition.

I hear you guys regarding the website - I will place the latest version download links in the downloads page.Tj Shredder wrote: Wed Nov 09, 2022 5:28 pm Could you also do something with your web site? I am logged in, but when going to the download page, I only get buttons for "Buy Now" and "Manual". Downloading new versions should be simple, if there is a difference between a demo or a full version, it should be possible to download in my account area...
Finally after some searches I did find the download, but it needs too many clicks and its definitely not where I would expect it to be in the first place (the download page...).
We've made some significant changes to the website and things are still a bit wobbly, we're also pushing for something pretty big for Black Friday so that takes up a lot of our time.
Sorry for the inconvinience, it's temporary! I promise you that.
Until these issues are fixed - You can use the download links on your license email to download the latest version, we also added a prompt notification that will allow you to download the latest version from within Beat Scholar with a single click
If you want to re-trigger the license email with the latest download links you can always go to "my orders" and click "resend licenses".

Playback probability - That too! We just introduced the Randomizer as it's a more robust system and focuses on a compositional workflow, probability features are in the works too... alongside some other interesting shenanigans like changing measures per lane so you can get a ton of interesting Beat permutations using polyrhythms
As always - Thanks for the feedback!

Nice. I really appreciate the development approach that's being taken with this sequencer. It's becoming an absolute powerhouse of a rhythmic tool.OrLubianiker wrote: Sun Nov 13, 2022 5:25 pmRe. note assignment - We're planning to add it in a future update.Straight2Vinyl wrote: Sat Nov 12, 2022 1:35 pm In the drum mapping section please add note assignment via MIDI, so in other words you select the drum sound/hit and play a note on a MIDI keyboard to assign it. While we're still missing MIDI learn - you can definitely do a custom MIDI mapping and store that inside a 'kit' preset (even when the sampler is off), and then lock it so it will stick around when you change presets. I'm guessing that's what you're referring to?plexuss wrote: Sat Nov 12, 2022 6:13 pm Realtime play step randomization. MIDI mapping and mapping presets. BTW, Beat Scholar is now 30% off for Black Friday.

You are a good dev, no doubt, but to offer a cheaper price than intro price just a short time after release is not a good step imo.
You know, money doesn't grow on trees especially this year and I feel kinda pranked.
You know very well what an intro price is meant to be, usually it makes people buy and think it's the best price at least for the next 12 months.

I see your point completely, Eyal and I have been users of pro audio way before we started Modalics.DCrown wrote: Sat Nov 19, 2022 10:21 am You are a good dev, no doubt, but to offer a cheaper price than intro price just a short time after release is not a good step imo.

But in the candid spirit that we conducted all the correspondence on this thread with, I feel like we can let you guys in on our side of things.
Eyal and I both stepped away from day jobs and risked most of our life's savings to start this company, taking no investments so we can realize our aspirations to the full extent.
The joy we experience by improving this plugin with you and seeing how well it's accepted is incredible - it makes us wish we could support this, and other products for many years to come.
The only way we will be able to do that, is to partake in the marketing ebbs and flows of our industry and compete with our fellow brands...Using these kind of opportunities to expand our client base and just maybe make a minimal living wage so that we can continue working on free updates for Beat Scholar and an entire line of products in the near future.
I don't mean to complain one bit, we took on this endeavor willingly and we don't regret it for a second. I just think you early adopters deserve an explanation, and our gaurantee that we will make your investments in our products worthwhile for years to come. Be it Sale price or regular.
As a token of good will - We'll gladly comp any user here that purchased before Black Friday, with another activation. (4 activations total instead of 3)
Just email info@modalics.com with the email you purchased BS with to claim.
Thanks!

Yeah, I can relate. I have come to accept that with those endless cycles of sales and discounts, it's all a matter of win some lose some. For me... Beat Scholar is a cool plugin, but I haven't bought it yet, because although I could use it, I really don't need it. This lower price might make me buy it after all. Especially because these guys seem committed to keep improving the plugin. If they manage to get more people on board, that's good for all of us in the end (more funds for development).DCrown wrote: Sat Nov 19, 2022 10:21 am You are a good dev, no doubt, but to offer a cheaper price than intro price just a short time after release is not a good step imo.

I literally bought it "on sale" 5 days ago for a higher price. I understand marketing stuff is important, but it seems particularly strange to me to reduce the price within the same sales period. Honestly, leaves me feeling a bit cheated.

Sorry about that. Hopefully you understand we're just two guys trying our best to make good tools and constantly improve them.gondii wrote: Sat Nov 19, 2022 12:56 pm I literally bought it "on sale" 5 days ago for a higher price. If you'll email us at info@modalics.com we'll see if there's maybe some other way we can help.

Ideally we would have given you some discount toward a purchase of another plugin, but since we only have one of those released an activation is some way we thought would give you some extra value.enCiphered wrote: Sat Nov 19, 2022 1:01 pm Exactly the same feeling here. Having that said, please email us at info@modalics.com and we'll see what we could do for you.

I think this is only the second plug-in I've bought this year but I only just saw this thread, watched the intro video and the black friday price was simply a no brainer. Thanks I look forward to using this
