Similar question here: Were the core distortion algos modified for the new version?abstractdolphin wrote: Fri Jul 11, 2025 1:35 pm @red_force Does this use the same algorithms that were in the original? From the demo video above it sounds quite a bit like it (wild and crazy). Does it also have the same sort of feedback options (I don't see them in the video).
Ohm Force’s Ohmicide[S] has been released! 😍

...and looking for a way to oversampl-i-fy
[pun intended]
can't find any way of preferences...and esp oversample options
this thing foldbacks massively - for example 1k foldback at 7k sinus with the default preset
is there any sort of oversampling option / preferences ??
like otheres (saturn, unfiltered audio) offer ?

This whole upgrade price question made me finally dive a little more into the kilohearts collection which I already own.
For what I wanted to do back when I bought Ohmicide 1, I‘m completely satisfied with this alternative. YMMV.
Updates free for life, they get paid for new modules which actually add value to the ecosystem. And it seems to be working for them since 2012. So a much better fit for my personal preferences.
To those who are trying to shout down any critical voice here, I hope you get utility and joy out of this purchase and that the company sticks around. Would be a shame if you called everyone who is reluctant an idiot now, just to end up looking like one a few years down the road.

Valid critique is one thing, entitled hyperbolic whining over sums that amount to a short visit to a pub or a budget meal in a casual restaurant? Completely other.medienhexer wrote: Sat Jul 12, 2025 7:46 am To those who are trying to shout down any critical voice here, I hope you get utility and joy out of this purchase and that the company sticks around. I can understand that some people are apprehensive, for example, due to the seemingly quiet or even silent interim period, but how things are now displays a different attitude.
I think we should allow Ohm Force the benefit of the doubt. I haven’t heard any complaints about their customer service, products, or company for several years now, aside from people harping about the past.
And yes, even I thought Ohm Force was done for, but after the release of Ohmboyz Infinity and them picking up things and moving into the eurorack space has shown that they are back in the game and serious, this especially now after their recent releases.
I love Ohmicide, both the old and especially now this new one, but if I had doubts about the support or continuity of the company, I would not have invested in it. I am not that wealthy.

Point. Counterpoint. The world keeps revolving and moving onwards regardless. Also, yes, saddling one’s happiness onto the shoulders of others is a fool’s errand.
For the record, I did not try to invalidate people’s fears or doubts about Ohm Force based on past experiences, they have a right to their points of view, like I wrote, I can understand that.
What I objected to was the critique of pricing that I found both unreasonable and unfair, especially due to the hyperbolic use of words that aimed at making the whole thing appear way more severe and bigger than it actually was, and somehow paint Ohm Force in a negative light, as the villain of the story. Such critique was, I felt, expressed in bad faith, also, it was completely oblivious to the realities of developing and publishing software. It came across as entitled, ignorant, and arrogant.
Anyway, what I’ve just written will most likely change nothing. People will still have their opinions about things. The world keeps revolving and moving on… we just have to do our best to make every day as good as we can. I hope you have a great day.

sure, oversampling would be welcome but as a user of saturn and many unfiltered audio plug ins.. none of their offerings sounding anything like ohmicide s. very different things in concept and execution. i don't want to have to choose between any of them and like to have them all.muki wrote: Sat Jul 12, 2025 1:52 am...and looking for a way to oversampl-i-fy![]()

Alrighty, so I would’ve bought this untested if the upgrade price was reasonable. As a plugin addict I’m just like that… unfortunately. But after testing it out, figuring if I like it why not, I just don’t like using it. Weird knob behavior for one and the sound quality doesn’t make me feel like I’m missing out with my existing options. The crazy upgrade price seems to have saved me money on a plugin I don’t think I’d actually use. Blessing in disguise.
That being said, I wish OhmForce the best.

Turns out I'm fine with my ancient v1 license. I've got alternatives for modulated multi and distortion that I've spent a good deal of time learning and I also know when I want the v1 ohmicide flavor and how to use it. I'm not concerned with the pricing as much as I don't really want to spend any money at all for something I doubt I'll use. The workflow is different enough that I don't believe I want to spend the time with it. If I didn't already have a massive pile of distortion options it might seem more appealing.
Don't F**K with Mr. Zero.

P.S. it's overpriced.
Full price is 99€. Discounted price for previous license owners is 79€. So, a discount of –20%.
That wasn’t enough for some people, they wanted discounts from –30% to –50%, etc., calling the current discount… insufficient, with all kinds of hyperbolic language used to describe both the current pricing and Ohm Force.
So, a whole lot of noise and bad air about 20-30€, hence my reference to the pub visit or a budget meal. Ok?
Did that help clarify things?
Oh, let me say this also, for me it would not have been overpriced even at 99€. It is just awesome for the kind of music that I make (industrial and other such noisy and dark stuff plus sound design), basically, it is without comparison when it comes to the character of sound I can easily get out of it.
Others might disagree and that is their right, they can vote with their wallets. But that hyperbolic harping about the prices… well, like I’ve said, it is not a good look.

The reasonableness of the pricing depends heavily on whether you consider this an entirely new plugin or a continuation of the existing plugin. 20% loyalty offer on a new plugin is perfectly fine, but if you consider it be equivalent to going from v2 to v3 of a fabfilter plugin or Serum 1 to 2 or whatever it’s the worst pricing for a single plugin upgrade I can think of.dhruan wrote: Sat Jul 12, 2025 5:19 pmUhhh… no.mholloway wrote: Sat Jul 12, 2025 4:47 pm95 USD for a budget meal or trip to a pub? Most people seem to fall into the existing plugin upgrade camp, hence the complaining.
