Yamaha Buys Steinberg

Perhaps the reason *why* Yamaha finds Steinberg to be a sensible deal is that S has finally gotten to a protection model (through partnership with Syncrosoft) that presents a level of protection that Yamaha deems acceptable - in order to put out more products in a software form. The latest Syncrosoft driver model also allows for the protection of content assets as well as programming. That plus the near ubiquity of ASIO and VST and cross-platform compatibility might make for a relatively complete picture, from a hardware-centric company's standpoint.
