Tracktion 2 now offers more synchronization support, including MIDI Time Code (MTC) input/output and MIDI Clock output for working with hard disk recorders, keyboard workstations, groove boxes, etc. Tracktion 2 can also send and receive MIDI Machine Control (MMC) commands
Thats a yes then, I would have thought.. :D

Changelist for version 1.7

- new class: MouseHoverDetector
- new key-shortcut classes: KeyPressMappingManager and KeyMappingEditorComponent
- added QuickTime movie support via the QuickTimeMovieComponent class
- mouse-events are now time-stamped with the time the event occurred rather than using the time it was delivered (better for detecting double-clicks, etc)s
- getScreenX() now takes into account windows that are contained in non-juce parent windows (e.g. audio plugins)
Ooooh. Thanks for the heads up. I'm no programmer so I don't follow JUCE so that little tidbit of news would have gone right past me.

Thanks jtxx000.

Good sleuthery, jtx! :D Quicktime is a non-issue and wouldn't affect my decision in the slightest one way or another, but if this DOES hint at QT implementation, there will be some happy folks out there. :D

Why would Mackie save the really usable features for last as an intro?

I haven't seen anything that appeals to me, joe-home-recordist.

I'm using T because it was simple and cheap. That means I don't have a control surface, I'm not recording at 64/192, I'm not syncing to an external device, etc. etc. etc.

Time/pitch stretching that works as good as Acid - that would be useful.

A notation editor, that would be useful.

Someone asked for a Midi Event list - well, my other sequencer has that, and I have to say T's graphic display of cc data is far more useful than an event list. Need to know the details of an event in the graphic window, just click and view below. Seeing how a controller works against the notes is much more useful to me.

If T doesn't have time/pitch stretching that is much more useful than what it has today - I will not be upgrading - just terribly disappointed.

I could care less what color scheme is being used. They could paint it in Austin Powers Disco colors for all I care.

I'm not running a widescreen monitor, or dual monitor setup. Remember, T was appealing to probably at least half it's user base because of it's price. We don't have piles of hundred dollar bills invested in the latest monitors and other gear.

See my other posts. I am not a troll. I've been a T fanatic for the last 6 months. But this feature release looks very very bad - doomed in fact. Taking T upscale would be the worst thing that could happen for me.

At least I have version 1.6 - that's going to have to do unless the feature release starts getting back to what T was all about in the first place.

Beno - please don't forget about us 1-track-at-a-time dudes that love Tracktion. I do mixdown with Automation curves - good enough for me as it saves me hundreds of bucks.

If I wanted a control surface capable, 256bit 1024MHz recording software that is married to hardware, I would be buying ProTools, since I would have the cash for it. Please don't go there.

rockstar_not, I totally agree. But Mackie control of the app looks like it is going in that direction. I don't care if they do it if they do this:

• Keep the hardware support from raising the price. Maybe have two versions, one that supports MMC et al and one that doesn't. People who only work in software shouldn't have to subsidize the development if they will never use the features.

• Focus on at least meeting the standard feature set of all modern DAWs, which definitely includes decent Acid-like capabilities. That was the one thing that I couldn't reconcile in T1. I never would have looked at another sequencer if this was present.

Don't worry, I'm one of those dudes too and T2 has plenty more in store for you, we just haven't told you everything yet. :)

Also, remember that Jules still has control over what he implements. I can guarantee you all that he hasn't added one feature that he didn't like. Everything has Jules' stamp of approval.

In my mind, all of the sync features allow Tracktion to be used in many more environments than it previously could. There will be many more people who can now use Tracktion. These are also features that all of the mature sequencers that have been around for ever, both pro and consumer, have implemented. We needed to add these "utility" style features so that Tracktion could be used in environments that demand them. This doesn't mean we have ignored our core user base; it means that we are adding to it. Please trust me (and Jules) when I say (again) that once T2 is officially announced, and all the features have been revealed, you will all be happy.
