Been playing with them for hours today. They really are excellent.
Can't wait for Steve to add the draft mode though or hopefully do some multi-threading like u-he did with Diva and D-16 did with Lush which helped tremendously.

I'm really pleased people are making lots of pads and scapes for this but also a bit concerned that when the reverb eventually gets improved (which is to be hoped) there will probably need to be a lot of updates to those sounds.

Thought I'd mention my free set of 25 patches here as well:
http://xenossoundworks.com/free_presets.html
There are some freebies for other synths on that page as well.
@aMUSEd: It's definitely a really good synth for those sounds, IMHO. A true chillout machine
. I'm personally going to focus a bit on the darker side of ambient music on my own set...have to find a different niche than what everyone else is putting out for it lol.

Many interesting sounds there, with clever macro programming.

Yeah, that reverb really sounds bad to me but if you darken it up and only use it a little it can be OK. I normally just bypass most instrument reverbs anyway if the instrument is up front in a mix and use Reflect.aMUSEd wrote:I'm really pleased people are making lots of pads and scapes for this but also a bit concerned that when the reverb eventually gets improved (which is to be hoped) there will probably need to be a lot of updates to those sounds.

Hm. I'm a fan of the Microwave, especially the 1, but (maybe because I wasn't raised on EDM?Gadget Fiend wrote:Well, if you think Serum sounds better than a Microwave I or II, then your ears, while not "full of shit," are certainly not attuned to what sounds musical and organic. Probably raised on EDM...Sampleconstruct wrote:Exactly, all our ears are full of shit, your's are made of gold.
But, personal taste aside, one can't import an audio file into a Microwave or a Virus to use as a wavetable. Also, the Microwaves? Not what I'd call a fun UI to work with. Serum is a joy. I just threw together a simple funky bass sound in minutes and it sounds fantastic. I wish my Virus was that easy to work with. (and I consider the Virus Control software one of the best)
You don't have to like Serum though. No one will even care and you're entitled to your own opinion but when you start making dumb comments like "raised on EDM" when you have no idea what kind of music Sampleconstruct listens to then you're just going to sound like a jerk.

Wow. I missed Mr. Gruber, I mean gadget fiends brilliant comment. Wish I was that wise. To my less disciplined ears, the stuff sampleconstruct is putting together is etherial, organic, fill in the blank, anything that's a far stretch away from the EDM that I'm familiar with. Not to knock EDM, btw.

I'm not sure I can define "signature" in simple terms, but its sort of like when you hear a song for the first time and know who it is by without anyone telling you. Even though the song is new, it has qualities you immediately associate with a particular artist. In your case your sounds share a certain polish, dimension, and overall character that I would expect to hear in future sounds you shared. Hope that helps.NatLife wrote:what u mean with a certain signature? didnt understood u fully, sorry.Greg Houston wrote:They have a certain signature to them I'm digging. Most of my tunes made on VST's, 50/50 free and commercial vst'i.
I thought i understand you) I'm working with a music for a long time, last 4 years it was'nt so resist work but this year trying to do more production, also I have a record company that releasing a trance tunes. So of course for me it's a priority to do exceptionally a high-quality sound. In all of my music before i also used only own-made sound from a factory libraries of different VST's, so here in this coming bank i will share my vision of sounds with others, it's mostly trance/progressive house patches, but also a bit of aggressive sounds, like dubstep basses etc, because i'm also love to use a different basses in my songs and other productions.I'm not sure I can define "signature" in simple terms, but its sort of like when you hear a song for the first time and know who it is by without anyone telling you.
