thx for the tip. I might try LFO tool or midi shaper later on, downloaded midi shaper demo but from what i understand you have to record the automation in your DAW, am i correct?***...Icarus is great, but for some heavy duty stuff, i use external lfo's a.t.m.....***

Why mention Serum here?tatsy wrote:thx for the tip. I might try LFO tool or midi shaper later on, downloaded midi shaper demo but from what i understand you have to record the automation in your DAW, am i correct?
Just got an update from serum: 8 LFO's. All containing all the options one could need. No need for "hybrid" modes imho. Icarus is great, but for some heavy duty stuff, i use external lfo's a.t.m. from xfer btw...
Anyway...did you see/read this?
"You will find 14 additional Decay envelopes here:
Matrix->Decay 4ms bis 16s
15 additional Sinus LFO's:
Matrix->Sine 1/64 Hz bis 16Hz
2 additional Brick/Hold envelopes:
Matrix->Keyressed"
Maybe I should go to the Serum thread and start mentioning Icarus...

Just for some contrast. I surely hope t2 will ditch the steady/locked lfo's and env's. IMHO, it is a shame they still use those. But that's just me. Apart from that, and some other minor niggles, i think Icarus is a great synth. Whole lot of fun for sure!Examigan wrote:Why mention Serum here?tatsy wrote:thx for the tip. that was a mistake...well i'm not saying A or B is better, didn't want to either. didn't pay attention to my quote... It's just there's things you can do with MSEG's that you cant do with a sine LFO... so.... i ment i might eventually get an external LFO, **EDIT**even for other synths that don't have them... .. shouldn't had done all that quote
i got Icarus it all comes down to personal preferences... in fact Icarus has AMAzing sources for modulation, like... [key C->C#->D-> .... > ... >....] [filter(x)] and a few more..... never seen that in any other synth so it can do things other synths can't either

I know of the 3 lfo's with their free and follow bpm modes. I was talking about the mod matrix ones. The steady/fixed ones. I would rather see 2 or 3 more lfo's like the three, then all those fixed ones...that's all.

Here's an ambient pad sound that I spent the afternoon tweaking the living daylights out of

But it doesn't sound analog, and therefore has no musical value.Sound Author wrote:Here's an ambient pad sound that I spent the afternoon tweaking the living daylights out of...
Seriously, patches like that can sell a synth. One patch = ambient track. Great work

Ok my fault, but I didn't know that is what you meant, as you didn't mention the matrix LFOs. When I read 'steady/locked' I was thinking synced to host. But I think it is good to have those added choices in the matrix.exmatproton wrote:Not sure what you are trying to do here.....Examigan wrote:For Icarus...exmatproton wrote:Just for some contrast. It's a weird thing, but to me all of Tone2's synths now sound the same, everyone of them have this sort of bright kind of digital sounding sound quality to them, that doesn't do it for me. Even their take on an analog synth, can't remember it's name, had the same kind of thing going on. Isn't the whole point when buying a new synth, is that they add some sort of different tone,or flavor to the table?
Oh I should note I already own ElectraX and have been looking for other sounds out of tone2, but it's literally like that have tone1 in a headlock,and can't break away from it.
Maybe it's just me.. carry on..

It's not thát crazy. It has been discussed here before a few times. Could be due to the same infamous psycho-acoustics module in the sound chain and/or similar code shared some modules like effects. I'm not sure. "The Tone2 Sound" it's been called. Some love it, some hate it. I love it.Sound Author wrote:I'll have what he's smoking.trusampler wrote:It's a weird thing, but to me all of Tone2's synths now sound the same, everyone of them have this sort of bright kind of digital sounding sound quality to them, that doesn't do it for me. I agree that Tone2's synths have a certain sound to them, just like the synths of other developers, Synapse Audio, and u-he come to mind. BUT, if you compare for example Electra2, and Icarus, then you will realize that the sound engine has been worked on plenty. They definitely sound different, and Icarus sounds more detailled. I would think they improved the engine with every synth they released, especially Saurus was quite a step forward in sound "detail". What they all share kind of though is the sound of the resonance, and unique "sheen" in the high registers. You can hear that on almost any of the Icarus sound examples. Well, as with everything, you either like that or you don't.
