RapidComposer v4 beta feedback and discussion (locked)

I fixed this problem in the latest beta version so the last chord will be recognized as a 7th. Be prepared that the 2nd chord Gb6add9 will also become an Ebm7add4
Which made me think if it would be useful to be able to select alternative chord names from a menu because a chord may have several different names...

Please note that if you drop a MIDI file, the MIDI markers are ignored, so they won't be used later when harmonizing the phrase.

Further, if I turn On 'Import MIDI markers as chords', I see that it does happen when I go thru the MIDI Import page (e.g. the /Gb and /Db show up), but not when I drag in to the Composition and convert to MT chords via the phase inspector. (I'd be very surprised if you don't see the same behavior here ...)

It seems that the drag-in to the Composition pane is unaware of chord marker labels in all cases.

All of these fixes and improvements will be part of v4.3.2, to be released on Monday...

• Scrolling settings (speed, acceleration, deceleration) added under Settings / User Interface
• Arpeggiator has a 'generate' button, improved 'Random' setting
• [macOS] Fixed too fast scrolling
• [macOS] Fixed visual issues on retina screens
• [macOS] Redo is command-shift-Z by default for new installations
• Fixed a note editing bug when editing Motive Generator (wrong scale used as a reference)
• Removed pop-up menu unnecessary title in Melody Editor
• Fixed: inspector windows when opened outside the main window, were always-on-top regardless of the settings
• [macOS, AU] Fixed: when opening RC in a separate window, resizing the window was not possible
• Fixed using negative octave offset in the phrase inspector (in the allowed notes)
• Fixed a small chord detection issue

If you shift select a range of chords on the master track, the "random" button looks like the chord selector. It's not the dice it used to be.

Hi! I'm a new user of RapidComposer. Loving it so far. Just so that I'm sure I'm using the latest macOS version: where are the beta downloads? I couldn't find it on the site. Thanks.

Hi there, it depends if you've got the Beta version already, if so there will be a option on the settings menu to download new beta version, if you don't have that then you will need a separate download for the Beta version

It works here With both the chord preview or the selected track instrument.

Maybe because of my set-up.. Lately, I feel like I am turning myself into a cyborg I hooked my RC to Gig Performer 4 which is then hooked to REAPER. So RC controls these 2 standalone apps..

- The track scroll is still oddly the opposite direction of phrases panel scroll (y-direction)

I don't really understand this. It works in the same direction as scrollbars in RC and scrollbars in other macOS applications. That is if you drag down the whole view is scrolling up. I have checked other applications, they work the same way.

Sorry.. The scrolling directions are different from another app or previous version 4.2.3. It's like down is Up and Up is down.
By the way, I'm still using Mojave OS. (not M1)

- The x-direction scroll behavior is bugged when using the trackpad to scroll left and right while the cursor is on the x-direction scroll area.

User error Don't drag horizontally. All scrollbars are driven by the mouse wheel (or vertical drag on a track pad)

Oh~ That explains it! I assumed it would work the same as v 4.2.3. The magic mouse has a horizontal touch scroll though. Users might come to face it if they are full "apple equipped"

- Spacebar play shortcut is still malfunctioning. I've ticked all at the MIDI setting and hooked it to REAPER DAW

I tried this on a MacBook (Intel) and Mac Mini (M1) with REAPER and multiple RC plug-ins. The space bar worked. Please try to enable "Send all keyboard input to plug-in" in the REAPER plug-in menu.

It might not be relevant cause I am running Standalone separately. Probably I need to noodle around MIDI devices at REAPER audio setting. It was working fine with RC v 4.2.3 though.

Since long time there vote many for controllers in phrases. I think too this feature is very important. but still no controller support in phrases. please can you add this soon ?. it is also good when you can add in phrases easy vibrato or bend up bend half as in guitar pro, so no need to draw controllers.

k, major issue.. not seeing my VST's, but they are listed in settings and what has changed is ALL of them checked to be multi-timbral.

Go to add a VST to a track and nothing is listed.. (the production version )

ya, my fault.. instrument files got deleted by mistake when I installed the update..
