Now I just want to mod a touch pad or something to try with this one...

glad you like it
i'm thinking of adding some keyboard modifier keys to it so that you can control a second ball going in the opposite direction to the mouse movements, giving you 5 parameters at once.... ... . ..

Sounds great! Opens up even more possibilities. Hmmm...If I only had two more arms and hands you could throw in a third and a fourth one too
After 10-15 minutes of constant tweaking my fingers are in an almost reumatic state. Maybe If you were able press the mouse button and "lock it" to the plug-in somehow, so you didn´t have to hold it down all the time? Just an idea, don´t know if it´s even possible to do...
Going back tweaking

well i've managed to use it fine with energyXT, some hosts may not be as flexible in their routings tho - you need to be able to put this before another synth/effect plugin for it to be of any use.

Wow, nice, having fun with this. What sort of CC mapping am I looking for in order to control the actual notes / pitch of a VST with this XYZControl?

it depends entirely on the synth in question, really. if the synth has a 'pitch' parameter, for example, you can map the Y CC to that parameter and have vertical movements translate to a change in pitch.
not all synths have midi learn features tho, and also not all synths let you control via CC! however, if you wrap a synth in energyXT, you can use the 'cc map' feature (in the file menu that appears above the plugin gui within ext) and set CCs to control any parameter of any synth. the demo of eXT will let you try it out, the only limitation being that you can't save your mappings. it's only cheap tho!

Hmm...Can´t seem to get it to work here...You mean right click the ball (or plug-in) to let the ball follow the mouse-movements without having to hold it down?haydxn wrote:like this you mean? (right click locks dragging)

I am using eXT atm aye, just trying to find the pitch parameters for some of my synths.. hehe, also when I try MIDI Learn in eXT it pops up a little window that says "Waiting for Midi Input" and when trying to use the XYZControl it doesn't let me use it until I close the Midi learn window?

yeah that's a thing with eXT, it REALLY waits for you to send in the midi, locking the other interfaces. don't use the learn in this situation - just set the CC number on the left of the parameter to match that on the XYZ gui!
@asha - hmm let me have a check that i uploaded the right one!

there we go try the link again now!
when locked it doesn't get all the mouse 'drag' events when you leave the edge of the window, which is unfortunate, but you can always hold the button down again if you need to go off the edges. if i can fix that tho i will

Good stuff!
Still can't find the pitch/note parameter in the cc mapping of my various synths (polyIbit, evol, cable guys curve, prototypx). Hmm am I looking at the wrong place? (eXT novice here of course).
