My clothes are all wrinkled, do I need to irony them? 
I struggle and strive to get the sound I hear in my head into the real world. Is it original? Maybe. Do I care and stress over whether or not it is? Nope.
As long as I think it sounds good and it's not a clone of someone elses music, it's good to me.

I think there are degrees. I tend to believe that, in the broadest sense, everything worth doing has already been done. What's left is probably not worth doing just for the sake of originality. But between what's been done there are niches that have not been fully explored. e.g. What we do is not original in the strictest sense in that there have been plenty of similar artists doing it in the past but we believe that the genre moved on before exhausting all the possibilities. We try to explore those possibilities so whilst I don't think we are doing wholly original stuff, I certainly don't think we sound like anyone else, past of present.

There's good originality and bad originality. Most music is not original. Commercial music is with very few exceptions never original. Most original music is bad. Mishaps. Experiments gone wrong. Very little music is original and good.
I like good, un-original music. This is because of great musicians adding ... something. Interpretations of existing works or formulas. Beauty.
I like bad, original music. That's what I'm trying to do myself most of the time. Experiments. New ideas. Moving boundaries.
I love good, original music, but can name very little. Possibly because whenever I hear what I think is good, original music I found out that it's been done before as bad, original music. And then it's not really original. I hope some day to make a good, original piece.
