makes you appreciate how much work beat-slicers do. they really should get more credit. i don't even think they get health care or anything, and i'm pretty sure they don't have a union. poor bastards.
end beat-slicer persecution.

crumbs ron that comes down to basic programming! just put the hits where you want them. there is not a single thing that any person could say to simplify this.
Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.

well yeah its about programming but you know how the little slices have different lengths? thats the problem for me... like how the HELL do you line them up perfectly, especially if theyre not quantized!!!

Well, Ron...
The idea is that only the beginning of the hit matters, since it's percussion and the sound is almost instantaneous. So... er... it doesn't matter how long they are.
Now, if your sensitivity slider isn't adjusted right and you're getting false transients identified, or if you're slicing to "even lengths" then you have a problem... or not, depending on your perspective. Can be hella fun playing with the surprises.

On a serious note, though, I timed the slicing part, and then without mapping to a sampler, did pitch-shifting. It took exactly 40 seconds, and I'm sure it could have been shorter.
That's nothin'. It'd take me that long to load Plasma Express, stretch my clips, and export out again. Plus my PE is only 16-bit.
Again, I'm STILL in favour of Acid-like ability right in the timeline... but this really isn't all that bad. surely you can handle 40 seconds.

Can you please post a tutorial on how to post as somebody else?

I had a go last night- this method works really well( I'm under a domestic software buying embargo, so free is the way to go ). Thanks IIRs, pHz, Lunch and anyone else who has contributed their knowledge to this.
Coffee please, black, no sugar.

There's something about the way this works that I really like as well. There's something kind of satisfying about doing it by hand for some weird reason ...
... that said, I'd be the first to get excited at native beatslicing in Tracktion
None of the vst options on the market really appeal to me as much as they should, and i kind of know something native to T would be dead easy to use, very quick and simple, and somehow more "right".
come on come on
