Hi,
Ok, So Microdicer is the winner. The only thing is I wonder is there a file size limit for this program? It keeps crashing if loading larger size files.
Thanks. God Bless.
Aaron.

second icon from the left in the file toolbar - saves all segments and numbers them automaticallyaaroncavanaugh2 wrote:...I can't export to wav files easily like export all slices with one click of a button and have it rename each slice as 01,02 etc.

I just downloaded the demo and while you can't specify the BPM, you can specify the number of bars and beats. Sure, for a 3-minute song it's not so easy to figure out, but not so hard either. If you know the exact tempo and exact duration of the song, you can calculate the number of beats asaaroncavanaugh2 wrote:Hi,
Wavesurgeon. The only problem is it doesn't do exactly what I wanted there is no way to define bpm(exactly). I can't trim to whole bars or measures. (unless I am reading it wrong). Also I can't export to wav files easily like export all slices with one click of a button and have it rename each slice as 01,02 etc.

Aaron.
beats = duration (in minutes) * tempo (beats per minute)
Then just divide by four: the quotient will be the number of bars and the remainder the number of beats.
Also, I was able to slice a loop and save each slice as loop1.wav, loop2.wav, etc. Just use the "Save Segments In Loop" option.
I had a few crashes with DirectX plugins but I'm ordering the Basic (not Advanced) version with no plugin support. I'll use SDS to interface with my samplers so I don't need the Advanced SCSI features either.

Hi,
Yes I am seeing the potential of wave surgeon now. You kind of have to make up how many bars and beats you need.
So would it be( 3 * 160 )/4 ?
What if you need to slice only a bar rather than an 1/8th note (the lowest possible choice it gives)
What would be the math for this?
Thanks. God Bless.
Aaron.
PS microdicer crashes on anyhting even remotely large in my tests.

If you want to slice whole bars then the tempo must be divided by 8, which means multiplying the number of bars and beats by 8. Then use the 1/8th division.
Be sure about the exact length of your wav file - (ie,- is it 3 minutes or 3.12?)
I haven't been able to order WaveSurgeon. Stupid ShareIt won't approve my credit card.

Since you were trying out all that ConcreteFX stuff, I figured I should mention Zero-X's BeatCreator ($100 US)
http://www.beatcreator.com/English/frames.html
..., incase you hadn't seen it.
It's well regarded, and less than half the price of ReCycle.

Hi Fac,
So here is the formula I am currently using.
Seems to work.
beats = (duration "in minutes" * tempo "beats per minute"/eight)/4
the quotient will be the number of bars and the remainder the number of beats
Thanks. God Bless.

Is there any reason you are not using the GrooveSlicer in ORION's Sampler? Its certainly free if yo ualready have ORION and, if I remember correctly, you can specify the number of slices.

Try the free version of Shortcircuit - will load and slice samples and REX files and has lots of other options.
