I think you said you're using Sfz? Here's a link to the sfz mappings for the GSCW Drums. You should definitely try the GSCW kit, it's world-class.will.record.for.food wrote:And now...also,
I usually ALWAYS record audio for everything. I have virtually no familiarity with sampling, past making a beat with a mouse and throwing on a soundfont. This kit...GSCW, looks pretty cool, or so people say. Forgive my ignorance, but once I download this, how will I apply it to make it work. Is there a player I will need to get? I read about 5 pages into that thread (thanks TonyMead), but without knowing what they are talking about, I got lost pretty quick...
I need a good Rock Drum set

Yes, today a spent probably 2 or 3 hours at work (it was a slow day) reading about the GSCW business. I couldnt test anything out, but I could sit there and filp between 3 or 4 different LONG threads trying to figure it out. Ill have to play with it later. Thanks again all...the soundfont mapping was done by a user named Kara.

I really like Rayzoon Jamstix for US$99. They also have an add-on kit for just US$10. Try the demo, the sounds are great.

It's not so complicated. Go download this "GSCW_DRUMS_Library_Vol.1.rar" file from audioshots (http://www.audioshots.com/auditorium/index.php large files/other formats section I think). Then download the sfz files pljones made (bduffy already gave you the link http://www.drealm.info/sfz/GIRO/ ). Unrar the ... rar file and put the sfz files folder within the "GSCW ..." folder.will.record.for.food wrote:Yes, today a spent probably 2 or 3 hours at work (it was a slow day) reading about the GSCW business. Now you can use your sfz+ to load the kits. You can also take advantage of the multi-outs of sfz+ in order to proccess snare, kick, toms, etc separately.
If you have any problems or questions post here or feel free to PM me.
Cheers

Sounds pretty good to me actually, but the kit panning is way too wide IMO. I would suggest using something like Betabugs Moneo (or a rack containing 2 Vol / Pan filters) on the drum group to bring the image of the whole kit closer to the centre, which should make it sound more focussed and allow the guitars to dominate the sides.will.record.for.food wrote:What do you guys think about the drum sound I have now?
After all, if you were standing in a room with a band the drums would seem to come mainly from one place: you certainly wouldn't be hearing the 1st rack tom on the opposite side of the room to the floor tom!
