you guys are outrageous! i can't see anything wrong with this statement - he starts it off by saying he doesn't know what they're for and that as far as he knows they're just for techno! he's said "i'm completely ignorant about synths. i mean, look at me, i think they're just for techno"A3ntar wrote:Sascha, honestly, I don't even know what a synthetizer is used for. Thanks Haydxn. That is exactly how I meant it. Please guys, before judging or bashing take the time to read properly what have been said.
I repeat, I know nothing about synth. The only thing I thought they were good for is techno. Not to bring techno down or anything. I think I have this association on the back of my mind because I saw an interview on TV about a guy making techno music ( as far as I can tell ) and he said he was using synthetisers. I know that I am wrong in that assumption, hence the reason for admitting that I know nothing about synth to begin with.
This fact though doesn't change that I still find the interface a bit buisy and cluttered from a layman perspective. I like simpler UI with fewer and bigger buttons.

i'm just sick of all the ignorance when itA3ntar wrote:Btw, I am a guitarist (non pro) and the style I listen to dominantly is blues.
comes to dance music.
Singling out a genre that you don't like yourself and using it as an intended insult
is just about the lamest thing you can do IMHO............

Sir, this was the serious answer to your previous two questions. I answered them honestly to be polite and not to cause more conflicts.Btw, I am a guitarist (non pro) and the style I listen to dominantly is blues
First of all, I never said I hated techno. I just don't listen to it because I am mainly ( and have been mainly ) exposed to the blues genre, so I tend to favor more slower beats and guitar solos. Second, "intended insult"?!!!!!!!! WHERE IS THE FUKING INSULT?!Singling out a genre that you don't like yourself and using it as an intended insult
is just about the lamest thing you can do IMHO............
I will show it to you, and it is sitting 3 feets in front of your monitor. Dude, you're the insult to this forum and the members of this forum. You just prooved to everyone that you have the brains of a 5 years old ( and I am being generous here ) who's defensive argument is to cover your ears, not caring for what I am actually trying to send as a message, and just singing your own little tune in your head.
Please grow up....seriously....

Ok reading again maybe "insult" is too harsh...A3ntar wrote: First of all, I never said I hated techno. but do you think the quote below is complimentary?
Implying that "Techno" (whatever that is,"The only thing I thought they were good for is techno.
I assume you mean Electronic based
dance music) is somehow inferior.
Strange thing to say after the previous statement. Not to bring techno down or anything."
Maybe you were trying to be funny with theOh, btw, GypsyJazz, you're also a techno maker.....NEXT!
above comment but it could also be taken
as an attempt to belittle or insult me.
Seems to me you're the one being defensive here. You just proved to everyone that you have the brains of a 5 years old ( and I am being generous here ) who's defensive argument is to cover your ears, not caring for what I am actually trying to send as a message, and just singing your own little tune in your head.
Feeling as though you need to defend your viewpoint?
I certainly don't...
I am quite confident in my stance....
=====================================
So you like and play blues?
Well that's a good thing because The Blues
was and still is a very successful and
influential genre.... but please take
care to treat other peoples favorite
genres with the same respect you would have them treat yours.......
Whether you like it or not. making
supercilious wisecracks about "techno"
is just plain ignorant..
And just for the record... I'm 51.

first of all: synthesizers are being used for more than thirty years now in just about any musical genre - from Karl-Heinz Stockhausen to Herbie Hancock and Joe Zawinul and to Vangelis, Jean-Michel Jarre and Hans Zimmer synthesizers are an integral part of post-modern music.A3ntar wrote:Thanks Haydxn. All of them are world famous and are an important part of the history of music of the 20th century.
Not knowing any of these is pure ingnorance. Music isn't about ingnorance - it's about opening yourself to the world and the sound it and the people than are part of it produce. Music is an artform. Art and ingnorance don't go together very well.
and then: what are you doing in this thread anyway if synthesizers do not interest you at all?

Maybe it's simply being not as informed as you are? I wouldn't call it ingorance.jens wrote: first of all: synthesizers are being used for more than thirty years now in just about any musical genre - from Karl-Heinz Stockhausen to Herbie Hancock and Joe Zawinul and to Vangelis, Jean-Michel Jarre and Hans Zimmer synthesizers are an integral part of post-modern music.

What a pile of complete bullshit. I rarely use these words but this stoopit "tolerance" shit makes me upset.jens wrote:Music isn't about ingnorance - it's about opening yourself to the world and the sound it and the people than are part of it produce.
What makes you defining "music" in a way that has to be accepted by everybody? Music is simply an expression of inner things. Whatever you have inside you will express through your music. And even if it is "ignorance".
Am I ignorant if I don't know which drums the guys in Kongo play? Am I ingorant if I don't know the top ten of IDM? Am I ignorant if I don't know who produced the film score of the latest block buster? Why does anybody HAVE to know Hans Zimmer? Who is Karl-Heinz Stockhausen? I can't remember having heard his tunes. Am I not ignorant now only because I do know Joe Zawinul? My sister e.g. doesn't know him, ignorant?
Come on, this is rediculous at best.
Music is an expression of the lifes of some people. What if ignorance is a part of their life? (And as I showed above it's a part of pretty everyones life)jens wrote:Music is an artform. Art and ingnorance don't go together very well.
Maybe he just wants to chat? Like you do?jens wrote:and then: what are you doing in this thread anyway if synthesizers do not interest you at all?
Relax, Jens. This is not cool bashing him for being a not so super informed blues listener.
All the best, FRitz
P.S. And yes, some people just don't get it. Because they think their way of seeing things is the only possibly correct one. That's ignorance at it's best. HAve fun bashing me if you like to.
In the end will be the word.

jens just to remind you this thread is about the UI and not about the synth.
I agree with your attitude towards music, but please you also should be open minded to others.
So if there is someone, who expresses his personal opinion, what´s wrong with that?
I dont think we need tickets to post in threads, as long as there are no personal attacks it should be ok.
just IMHO
sound is vibration, vibration is life
