you don't have to save the ext-vst settings - i've never used renoise, but for me it works with audiomulch, inside eXT itself and with FL studio...
i mostly use eXT nowadays, usually with one instance of itself in the sequencer. can't wait for xt2 to come out. :)

eXT as VST reacts like any other VST, so everything you do inside eXT will be saved with the host song. but i always save a copy of the ext file as well to have a backup if something goes wrong (which never happened for now). ;)
