Downloading as I write this.

Surely it's about time that Mackie stopped bundling in all the example tracks with these upgrades?? It's bad enough having to download them, but you also have to install the whole thing and then go about deleting all the stuff you never wanted!!

It's not even as though this has never been commented on before.

can't say I mind, I did find Jules's 3 different download options somewhat confusing on occasion (what was the 3rd option for?).

Fixed: Windows 2000 midi issues?

I wonder if that was the reason I had a hard time with the midi editing... now on XP I should try T again.

nice update all in all, I'd say.

SHIT!!!

You can load mp3's to the Tracktion sampler :D

Hey - is everybody downloading this puppy just now?
2 hours for 21 MB is soooo last century! Geez!

Looks like a couple of those features are just what the doctor ordered, btw! Hopefully I'll get a chance to see for myself soon...

any sign of aftertouch support? This is what's stopping me upgrading from 1.6 ;)

Sadly not so far, Greg. For example, simply opening an old file, it takes an age to draw in the waveforms. But I do want to test this some more and see if I can now record without the GUI issue causing audio dropouts.

Overall there seem to be some nice improvements in this version though, with the improved Controller support the obvious headline. THere's enough here to interest me to have another look...

On the minus side, it is now a full year since T2 was first released, and this is not exactly a massive update given that timescale.

With rival companies such as Ableton and Cakewalk releasing far more significant upgrades on an annual basis, the gap between Tracktion's feature set and the competition is only going to get bigger over time unless Mackie speed up their development time somewhat.

Checked the release notes and saw no sign of this... looks like that theres a lot of other useful improvements, but Mackie won't be getting my money until the bizarre aftertouch/channel-pressure omission has been fixed.

some of the bug fixes are nice and the midi loop recrding is nice but it still seems to me mackie isnt really listening to us.

i mean i think the most important thing to most of us was the folder tracks or at the very least lockable track sizes. i mean come on. has anyone including the folks at maackie tried working on a song that has more than 20 tracks?!?!? its damn near impossible and utterly frustrating.

this hide the control section feature may help a little but why didnt they just go the extra mile and let us hide the propertie panel as well so we actually get real full screen?

kinda puzzles me that it so many months just to implement these features and how far off the really important ones for all of us are.

It's understandable that we all have different priorities about what we'd like to see included in Tracktion (and, to be honest, it shows that most of us care about the product). Sadly, not even one of the improvements I hoped would be in the next release appear to have made it. This could, of course, be due to the reasons that Lunch_Money has already stated. Though it was more in the way of workflow and compatibility tweaks I was looking forward to. It does seem puzzling though, that I don't recall many people (either on KVR or on the Mackie forums) asking for some the features that made it in. Which makes me wonder, along with Neil G, whether Mackie is actually listening.

I wouldn't sell T2, I still cling on to it as A) it's great B) it has the potential to be greater. But I think I'll pop back after a year or so and see if there's been some new refinements. At the least, I won't be stealing Mackie bandwidth from the hungry public. ;)

I must say it´s a great update! Not any revolutionary new features but really practical ones...

Mp3-support is great for collabs, remixes etc. Quick control nice for sends. Fullscreen view is excellent for mixing! (Neil G, have you tried it? I can´t see how you can get any more fullscreen than in this version???...) Multiple file import is easy. The new filter-view is nice, but a little slow and glitchy...And now with custom surfaces I get very interested in a midicontroller for Tracktion..

yeah ... but for collabs you REALLY ought to use .ogg anyway because of the .mp3 timing issues ...

among other things ...

this puzzled me too ... havent got the official update release due to a crawling mackie server but it was my understanding that you CAN hide the properties panel as well as the input and filter sections ???
asha wrote:Multiple file import is easy.
and quite handy too ...

not sure about what you mean here ... the new nested filter menu option ??? no graphical issues with it here ...

your life will be SO much easier if you take that plunge ...

about the properties panel, the pdf only states hiding the tranport controls if i read it correctly. if not, hey my bad, and hopefully this will help mixing a little better, but i still dont see any resolve for songs with a track count of 20 plus. i havent actually gotten a chance to DL the new update yet so i may have spoken to soon but it seems to me mackie is going after the quick and easy bug fixes and features rather than tackiling the big ones which imo should have first priority.
