Sorry for jumping in mid-stream...
How would you compare the PMI pianos to the ones in SampleTank? Once I got SampleTank up and running, I am kind of disappointed in their pianos. Plus, I blow up Receptor pretty quickly (I have max RAM installed) when I start using the pedal.
Right now I have gone back to the piano on my Fantom 8 which really isn't that bad. <;(

No comparison. At all. Most of the widely beloved large sampled pianos will smoke something like Sampletank, and PMI are some of the best. Not my favorite for all uses, but high quality.
Managing polyphony seems to be the key to avoiding overload. Kontakt II gives you more tools to do this cleverly than Sampletank.
