killvehicle, you've stated in 3 threads that you'll only use a real amp/pedal set up because it and it alone has a real amp/pedal sound. if yer not in the market fer a sim, why do you keep posting in sim threads?

Well, he did say he was looking for an ampsim to replace a real amp, just hasn't found it yet. Nothing wrong with that.
I'm sorry this post wasn't about techno.

oh, i missed that part. i've just read his rants in 3 diff threads. maybe he's just mad he can't find a replacement.
i'd like to buy a discontinued peavey with a saturation knob if i can find one at a pawn shop in my range. i know there's a diff between sims and the real thing. my budget is free sim at the moment

Well Funky bot basically covered it, BUt yes I am a guitar player and I would try any thing to find a great tone in a sim. Of course why wouldnt I? But its true havent found it yet, IM just saying my 2 cents, but no its no secret I dont like most sims, although I really tried hard with this one last night, For at least 2 hours, And I would gladly post some real fine samples I was able to achieve with this product, but in general these sounds are not what I WOULD use on a regular basis, IN fact I think the "Smooth" amp is real good on this amp, It does sound smooth and would be something very usable for some, and at times for me, but I still can't get it to achieve my normal setup,, So its not exactly what I want. Thats all, I really dont want to trash his product since it is free, and for that he shoudl be completely praised. I dont mean to piss on his parade, but I am just being honest when I evaluate the sound..androidlove wrote:killvehicle, you've stated in 3 threads that you'll only use a real amp/pedal set up because it and it alone has a real amp/pedal sound. if yer not in the market fer a sim, why do you keep posting in sim threads?

Hmm, I didn't get the expected huge reduction in CPU usage pumping it with Revitar 2.0...maybe I'd better cough up for a direct box and use a real guitar instead...?

Revitar 2 is quite CPU hungry ...funkychickendance wrote:Hmm, I didn't get the expected huge reduction in CPU usage pumping it with Revitar 2.0...maybe I'd better cough up for a direct box and use a real guitar instead...?

Uh huh, I wasn't ascribing the blame to FASE1.5. Even using a cleanish setting like Ovation classic, monophonic, I was hitting the 20s.asseca wrote:Revitar 2 is quite CPU hungry ...funkychickendance wrote:Hmm, I didn't get the expected huge reduction in CPU usage pumping it with Revitar 2.0...maybe I'd better cough up for a direct box and use a real guitar instead...?
Still, what I was hearing was nice, so the guitar option is worth the tiny hassle.

That to me is the hardest thing for all amp designers to beat? Will there ever be the holy grail of amp-sim guitar tones? I doubt it? some may find it others will will say But, But it don't do this, or that?
So I guess my next question would be? what is missing in all amp-sims for you Killvehicle? maybe the new amps will help?
Thanks all

Hey, sounds nice.
However, I'm curious about the optimization in FreeAmpSE. All your amp sims sound good to me, but they all eat up CPU like crazy. Is the optimization done for 1.5 the same as what will exist in 2.0?

FrettedSynth (30 years; you have a lot of patience), don't you worry ! IMO (and Killvehicle's too, probably) most of the hardware guitar amps also suck !
I have one (well, I've got several, but that one is special), made for me like I wanted it to sound and it does !!!
Does it mean I know how to get a good guitar sound ? Maybe.
I'll try your new baby later, the queen of the house has other plans for me right now !
PS : If you tell me how to get the right sound out of my wife, I'll tell you how to get the right sound out of an AmpSim... Deal ?

Hi Fretted Synth!
Just wanted to say a big THANK YOU for this nice update.
Still hadn't the time to try it, but hopefully soon,
then I post some impressions
