Hello All

There is a new version of FreeAmpSE get it at: http://frettedsynth.com

New in Version 1.5

Reduced CPU use (still not a CPU lightweight, but should shut down less systems then v1.1)
New overall tone
Added host sync and tap tempo to the tremolo and delay
Added phase shifter
Added input\output meters
Reduced aliasing (using no over-sampling) Not gone! but harder to make it heard
Noise gate updated
Delay updated
Reverb updated
Cleaned up the GUI
128 new presets (same crap names, plus 64 new crap names added)

Tips! gathered through testing .

1. Use the "Chub" slider to control the over-all fatness\bottom of the amp.
2. Use the "Contour" knob to control the warmth of the amp! setting between 10 and 12 O'clock gives a bit more warm tone.
3. Use the "mic" to control the over-all high end of the amp.
4. Use "Variac slider" to control The drive of the output amp, Use the "variac switch" for different amp types.
5. If more output volume is needed you can use the post compressor level for an extra 20db output gain.
6. Do a lot of digging :-) I buried things everywhere (to be fixed in the next version).
7. The noise gate can pump at low input volumes (turn it off if a lot of input gain adjustments are being made).
8. Be carfull when switching presets\controls until you know there effect, some clicks and pops can happen.

Coming in the next version is a new UI done by Rick (grymmjack) Which will no doubt change the feel quite a bit :-)
I have already three new amps, three new distortions, a new type of eq and I also want to add a audio triggered synth section on the output! containing velocity, filter bank, audio triggered VCA and modulation, that will use the guitar\amp as the oscillator :-) should be cool? and a Flanger :-)

Hope you all enjoy the new version? Let me Know how it Sounds\Runs

Peace

Nice - I will try this when I get home, been watching the development with interest.
Don't use a guitar, just samples etc. for guitar tones, but I have been wanting some kind of cabinet/amp simulator to replace reasons scream, but not enough to splash out on one of the expensive (& often dongled) comercial offerings.
Thanks :D

Running three of these right now on drums :)

I'm really liking it a lot so far. I'm having a blast just twisting knobs and finding cool tones. It does have a really great heavy sound, and the sustain is killer! That's the one thing I didn't like so much about simulanalog, the sustain died out a little too quickly. I can't wait to try this on a project and see how it does.

Yay, enjoy this beasty people! It's one of the best sounding ampsims out there and free too!?

Currently making a few presets of my own and recording some demos :)

Good luck with the new UI grymmjack!

First thing i've done when I got home is had a play with this.
You'#re right it's not a cpu lightweight, but is significantly more economical than the last version & on an initial trawl through the presets sounds absolutely gorgeous to my admitedly untrained ears.
Nice one, will have to play some more with this for definate :D

I really liked V1.1 and all the guitar-controlled synths ... many thanks for this :)

I just downloaded it and played with it for a while. Nice job. It's very usable. You must have a ton of hours into it.

Thanks! Yes quite a few hours when into making it, but its a lot more fun then watching the tube or doing crossword puzzles :D

Thanks all

Tried it for a bit, sounds great, not all that tone different from v1. I can still hear a bit of what i think is aliasing when bending high notes. Overall very nice!

The only amp sim i've tried in which turning the treble knob clockwise was not unthinkable.

hey, there's a quote for ya :hihi:

Thanks FrettedSynth!

Yah! at high gain settings aliasing can creep in a bit, that is why I say reduced not removed :D
No over-sampling is used to get rid of the nasty stuff, but I find the more I work out the aliasing without over-sampling the better the sustain of the amp gets? Which leaves me to believe that that is why most amp-sims have no sustain? I know of none that used no over-sampling to remove the aliasing?

And great quote I will have to remember that one :D :hihi:

I dont get it.. It doesnt sound too good to my ears at all, but I am very hard on amp sims and am very much a traditionalist in that I always want a real amp, Although I try all these just to be sure I dont miss the "one" BUt this is far from it in my mind. Its all right and can possibly be used for some things, but I just don't see any appeal in this sim. I do like the layout though, I think the Mic on the cab is unique, although I would be much more appreciative if it really acted like a mic being placed. INstead it is more of an Eq curve, and doesnt really reflect mic placement at all, just vaguely. Perhaps not the intent anyways but, could be a great feature. I like how the stomps are all there for you. SO it has some good features, but its always about the sound, and it doesn't cut it. Perhaps the next version that has the 3 new amps and stomps planned for future release can be a marked improvement
