....but a fraction of the price, really, as i've read both specifications, they seem to have exactly the same pricerange ?

There IS a realtime version of Elastique, and then there's Elastique PRO which isn't realtime but does a better job.

All three élastique engines are real-time. élastique Pro requires more processing power though, so sometimes it makes more sense to integrate it as a non-realtime process. In the end, it's all the developer's decision how to integrate it in an existing app.

What about Dirac - isn't that supposed to be the new "best"?

Dirac is incredibly CPU consuming when using the better quality processing modes. It also can't do "extreme" streching, that is more than 2 times slower or more pitch shift than +/-12 semitones.

Thanks for all the input, much appreciated.

Up to now I've tried demos of the following:

Melodyne 3 …..well I'm totally blown away with the quality results you can get from this App. The interface is great, and the way you can push audio to the quite extreme before it degrades is wonderful, but very expensive.

Acid 6….. the quality is not as good but the software does so much more, and it's great that the demo is almost the full program that lasts for 30 days, (I wish all companies would follow this way of letting you try the software,… well done Sony) the interface is not cluttered and very intuitive, plus a nice website with lots of support and freebees. I feel with Acid you get good value for money.

FL Studio 6…. The sound quality or the interface I just couldn't take to, I found it not to be as intuitive, and cluttered,….. I may be wrong but it seems you have to be a registered user before you can get help from the website, which to me seems silly, plus I couldn't get the help file to fire up within the app.

These are my thoughts after just a quick play-a-bout with the above programs, and I'm sure if I spent more time I would get better results, but on first impressions up to now Acid 6 is a great all rounder.

They probably don't have the resources or the inclination to help people who haven't actually bought the software from them!
