it really depends on what you need. With podxtlive you wont be able to use its effects on multiple tracks at the same time have an integrated VST interface...

i dont think either is a *better* choice. it depends on what you need it for.
But I thought I read that the VST's are going to be a free upgrade for the PodXTLive owners? Or was I dreaming?

Don't take my word as gospel, everything is just rumours, but I thought I read it on here somewhere.

I was under the same impression as Amberience...it was on the forums I think at line six...but it was said a little vague so I'm not sure...
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Pretty sure it's a paid upgrade for peeps. Each hardware unit will have its own upgrade path, though, so if that for XTlive is "free", then I guess I'm wrong. ;) Last I heard, there were no official announcements by Line6 other than for straight-up retail (ie. not upgrade path) purchase.

Jason: are you absosmurfly positive that when recording via ASIO in conjunction with Gearbox, that you are not getting a small CPU hit? I mean, even on the TonePort I find it fairly negligible, so it just might not be something you've noticed yet...

ahh, i havent recorded ith it, i have just been using the podxt with gearbox and playing along...

there is certainly no cpu hit using the amp models and effects with my podxt and listening through the computer.

are there new features in gearbox over guitarport? i'm installing now, but just curious what to expect.

Has anyone tried the bass expansion pack with a guitarport yet? I'm quite tempted by it as the website says the the new software allows the bass pack to run but then its not listed in the expansion packs available for guitarport? :?

a. the newest gearbox software is necessary for the bass ex pack to show up for guitarport

b. yes, I tried the pack before it was UB's ( actually, podlivext), so since it was not UB's, I got my money back.........UB support......another story....but at least now it's here....IT'S HERE! :)

If you want to try it, and can run the updated gearbox, you can give it a whirl..........if you don't like it, they EASILY will refund you.

Post

btw, there are some SICK things about this update.......

It's UB/macintel compatible

It's now capable or 24/96....that is especially good new for lappy owners........lappy/guitarport (as soundcard 24/96) and there you are!......guess the drivers got updated to USB 2.0?

anyhow, on a macintel coreduo with live 5.2........it just very stable so far......oh, and I'm beta testing live 6 which is also really stable!

Post

thanks hibidy, I'm planning on downloading the update later today and then I may take the plunge and purchase the expansion pack :)

Can anybody comment on the quality of the bass expansion set? The demos sound pretty nice but then its twice the cost of the other expansions. How does it compare to the sounds in the bass pod itself?
