Hello Mokafix.

Remember we spoke in the "why ppl don't list there locations" post?
I wanted to get back to you, and tell you how much I enjoyed your "location" photography.
I studied each one closely...man , I need a vacation. haha

My favorites were;
- shaoxing04
- shaoxing206
- cerem4
- rooms

Silently sitting in my pictures folder to enjoy when I please. :v)

------------

Mokafix sez;
And don't forget the double click...
I know it seems simple and all, but it can find a place in any project, I think.
For instance, it can be used to reset knobs to their default value when double clicking the knob.
Until you wrote that, I was going to emphasize how convenient it is to be able to doudle click a fader/knob in order to set it back to zero.

I don't design DSP , just work with the results.
I recently installed your "monkey orchestra".
I really can get lost in this. Takes a bit of practice.
I'm going to try to make a music piece with it solely. If it works out i'll send you the link.

Impressive work Mokafix.

Thanks!
I'm glad you enjoyed some of my photos.
And Monkey Orchestra too.

And I hope some of those prefabs can help some SE dev to improve their synths gui wise.

China can be interesting to visit... and to eat.
They have a lot of things to eat, and the food they serve to the students is amazing!

breakfast/9PM snack.jpg

I recently saw "supersize me", and was really surprised to see the "food" american children have at school.
I won't stay here to live, because there are too many annoying things, but the food is really something we should take lessons on.
There are no vegetarians here: people eat everything. Students naturally choose soup, fish, vegetables, shrimps, because they really like it. I guess they were "forced" by their parents to taste everything when they were kids...
Poor kids; they can't even choose to eat a fat pizza or drink a gatorade at school... (hmm, actually they can drink coke and gatorade, as there is a minimart in the school; they just don't have the sugar addiction, so they don't buy that kind of stuff)

Hahaha...good food huh...you can't fool me, hehe, for all I know, those trays for dinner/lunch are an assortment of mealy worms, termites, and insect larvae. ;v) :hihi:

For breakfast everyone is forced to eat a 1000 yr old egg over a bowl of sticky rice...and the snacks are actually steamed little dog legs on a stick covered in chocolate. :hihi:

But to get back to reality...
I recently saw "supersize me", and was really surprised to see the "food" american children have at school.
The "supersize me" slogan is from McDonalds I believe. But we americans don't serve that shit in our schools..really.
The kids DO have choices of healthy foods along side French fries and candy. If you were a sloppy american kid which would you choose? haaaaaaaa

I don't remember what I was served...but a friends wife, who knows the Thai food selections very well ordered a variety of dishes for me,and to go around. I can honestly say that was one hell of a sensuous experience. I can also get that from Indian foods..but the Thai was just incredable.

Sorry I never followed through on getting the Thai selection names I had ,but he,and she and I lost touch.

Sorry to muck up your post with food stories.

Bye.

I was referring to the movie "supersize me", and according to it, kids seem to choose the french fries and candy...
It seemed obvious that the people who sell food to schools had interest into telling "let the children choose", which is really stupid, as children need to be rised, they won't do it by themselves...
Here they have much more choice than anywhere else, I think (each jpg is for one meal only!). And as they were not let to themselves when they were kids, now they can eat everything, and really don't enjoy sugar much.
I wish I had this food education... (though I'm glad I did not have the rest of their education ;-))

I used to choose the french fries in france, but here, I wouldn't if available. They sure know how to cook vegetables.
I think not having the junk food choice at school has more positive points regarding health than negative ones.
People here won't die at 55yo from diabethe or heart attack.

In French schools, food is ok, but here it's better.
In France we know how to make special-occasions-luxury-food, but Chinese know how to make very-good-everyday-cheap-food.

But they don't know how to drive, how to work efficiently, the headmasters in school don't care about education but only in showing off in front of "the party" (I'm supposed to make 17yo students able to pass IELTS exam next year :hihi: ), etc.

So don't get me wrong: I don't really like this country, but the food is just so healthy and tasty.
The kids DO have choices of healthy foods along side French fries and candy.
Here the kids have no choice : only good food. No poison.
:D

Back to topic:

I added 3 controllers to the prefab.

- A joystick : same as SE basic joystick, but you can also click anywhere to make it go to the pointer position.

- rotary knob : works with RH cartesian to polar, and allow the knob to work better than the basic SE rotary (this one will never loose the pointer tracking, even if you drag far outside of it), and you can click anywhere around it to make it go to the correct position.

- vertical knob : a basic vertical dragging knob, but with the "hold shift while dragging for fine tuning" feature.

Thanks to Dave Haupt for making that mouse detection module which really improves synthedit a lot!

absolutely, should be included in SE default features !
the best tool for advanced GUI :)

Yes, not only it lets you do new stuff, but it also improves every other simple controller as you can see in my updated prefab. Sliders or knobs can all be better with this.
I think it could even let one built a custom sequencer or arpeggiator in SE.

If it could hide pointer on mouse over, you could even have a custom pointer appearing over some areas. (a pen or eraser in a sequencer)
It also solves the problem of joystick images which dragging scale was stuck to 200pt, making them strange to use on bigger areas. (ie my jack cables)
And now, if you go out of the range of the joystick image, and then come back, it won't move until you are really back into the area.

It really moved SE to an higher level GUI wise.
And the fact it's a module and not an image associated .txt file code make it really flexible.

I love it!

nice work, I've been looking for something like your morpher for a while now, cheers and thanks for sharing! (any plans to make a version with more/unlimited nodes?)

Post

EDIT nevermind, I found it

Now I got it working, just thought I shoudl mention that I had to replace the DH breakpointinput because the version I have is newer - 1.21

I had a hard time getting it to line up right, as the new module comes in not scaled as the older version/your project.

Hey,

Are you still planning on releasing those Graphic display prefabs ?

This one is really nice :

Hi hi
would you believe me if I tell you that those ones were finished since a long time, but i forgot to put them on my site?

I just uploaded them, so you can try it.
They are quite simple compared to the cables or even the advanced controllers, as they are only graphic, no much math (except the sum up lines); but I guess you can find a use for it somewhere.

BTW, did you notice that i used your cart to polar again in the rotary knob?
I don't really like rotaries, and prefer vertical, but this one responds much better than the SE default one.

:hihi: ok, cool thanks..will check them out.
The multilines one is nice for ADSRs, when using multiple ones..it saves space :P

Yea, i tried it...works great indeed !
All those in the mousedetection prefab are good :D
Nice work, and happy i was able to provide the module for this ;)
