@S HUSH

Let say that when i read that one of these formely EA plug-in is presented as "the secret wapon of Roger nichols from the past decade"...wathever is the marketing strategy behing this, i cannot agree that the Elemental Audio team isn't mentioned I ANY CASE as the ones who created them...

- If he really is a sweetheart how can he agree with this ?

Post

and I think I'm adding to that point :lol:

.....an article in one of those music mags recently stated that elemental is aware of how unhappy people are and they still own the licencing.......

At any rate....as I understood it, it may switch back?????

I think people are more pissed about the prices than anything else.

Actually Roger did make a concession so he must be listening to all the criticism. We now have a choice between using ilock or challenge response copy protection. I bought Neodynium for a great price just before EA's allegiance with him began. The only reason to upgrade would be to get his presets but the brushed aluminium interface certainly looks a lot tackier than the original. And as for the names...

I didn't know that the challenge/response had been added......

Hey, it's something..... :shrug: I'm always glad when someone listens and at least tries..........

I'm kinda feeling sorry for the guy now.

I dont think he had a choice. I mean the amount of flaming he got here must have killed his sales! Which is a good thing IMO. Shows that KVR is a powerful force to recon with!!

Well he should have known better. Do some research about your users before just jumping in there and changing the (raping) the product.. Why didnt he gradually transition the product instead of assuming that current owners of the product would just simply conform to the changes? He could have consulted with people 1st, gotten some user feedback.. What ever happens in this debaukle Roger has no one to blame but himself.. And dont let me start on given zero recognition to the original developers.. If you'd never heard of EA you'd think Roger was a genius..

I was pissed cause I had just bought Firium and Neodynium a week before the news was anncounced.. This came as a tottal shock to me.. They (EA and Roger) basically kicked their users in the head on this.. Thats my position..

If the C/R scheme is anything like Princeton Digital's, I'd rather have the dongle...and I won't do dongle's, other than Samplitude. I finally ditched my 2016 reverb because every tiny thing I did in my system caused it to issue a new challenge code, and the devs really pushed me to buy an ilok by basically telling me they weren't going to keep issueing response codes to me. It was a cool reverb, and not cheap, but between Samplitude's Variverb, and the UAD stuff, I just decided I could live without it. Still wish I could get my money back.

I had the same problems with the 2016 and they never refused to issue a code (they actually told me I had the world record by the 5th time! :hihi: ). When the iLok version came out, I switched to it, but due to some problems (high CPU usage on AMD with the iLok version, not apparent with any other iLok plug-in I have) they keep issueing codes when I need them.

I was about days away frow buying a bundle from Elemental Audio, when they got rogerized. No way I'm going to buy a dongled plug.
Actually I wouldn't want any of them if they were free of charge. I have passed on lots of otherwise great stuff because of the dongle crap. I have to live with my Cubase dongle but that's pretty much it, no more christmas tree on my daw.
I also think it's a shame that the Roger guy never got grandchildren to spend time with, see what it did to him!
