I've sold them mainly as DAW expanders. Just as I use it myself. Most of my clients have easily maxed out their PT rigs or Logic systems and that leads to crash city.... Put your hefty plugs (Stylus RMX, Ivory and eastwest series) on the Receptor and they're so much happier. At the moment its by bringing the Receptor audio back in via ADAT into auxs, but once uniwire's nailed down on Intel Mac this use as an expander will be even more viable.
