Propellerhead are definitely making a big announcement (pretty clear from reading James Bernard's recent posts on their forum). NOT ReCycle update, so either Reason 4 (or 3.5) or something brand new.
Do you have link for this?

Is S.O.B. going to finally be unveiled? Or is it going to suck this year?
Yeah I'm waiting for them to release the son of "beach"

It's more of a jigsaw, putting together pieces from a variety of threads (mostly on the registered user only section of their forum)... BUT from what I have gleaned there:

In a thread speculating about ReCycle 3, James Bernard intervened to say that the Props will not be announcing that. In a similar thread speculating about Reason 4, JB also posted but did NOT deny that it is to be announced at NAMM, but simply said he is enjoying the speculation :hihi: .

In a thread about his latest free ReFill, James also stated that the sounds in it were not produced using Reason's "current devices" but instead he had used a "forthcoming modular synth" for much of the sampling. This sentence was subsequently removed from the post. Note: JB uses only Propellerhead products, so although he did not say this modular synth was coming from PH, I would be quite suprised to hear otherwise.

As for speculation that Reason is to be abandoned, that was started in a ?"humerous" editorial by Ronan MacDonald in CM magazine. Having recently invested so much in the Reason Pianos refill, not to mention Sonic Reality converting the entire Miroslav Vitous orchestral sample set into refill format last summer, I find this suggestion highly unlikely. Reason is the biggest selling music software of this decade (by a considerable margin) and one of the most distinctive... why ever would they abandon it in order to produce a "Me, too!" sequencer?

[EDIT: see confirmation below from Squids/Sonic Reality that Reason is NOT being abandoned by Propellerhead  ]

Every update from Propellerhead has in fact been either announced or previewed at a major tradeshow.

Somebody made the same claim as you on their forum and in response another forum member dug out all the press announcements from Harmony Central and demonstrated that P'head are consistent in this. :)

Anyway, the waiting will soon be over folks... soon we'll all know for sure!

I'm more excited about new stuff from the Props than anything else at NAMM. Taking Reason's modular features another step forward would be brilliant.

Rhodes Mk7 should be interesting anyway!

Hm... He also recently said that dblue Glitch was his "secret weapon", so that's not en entirely accurate statement, either...

Anyway, if they announce a new product I will of course be PLEASENTLY surprised, I have a bunch of their stuff and love it and use it all the time. :)

Aha! - perhaps he uses this alongside Reason in the new top-secret Propellerhead host software.

Oooops...

:hihi:

I like this bit of Propellerheads speculation and I salivate over any kind of addition to Reason.
