Here's an idea for someone - don't know enough about these things to judge whether it's possible:
An automatic drum track quantizer - to tighten up bad drummers' audio recordings. Works out the average "groove" and quantizes everything (percentage-wise) to that. The drummer's "Autotune"...

Kind of a tobybear midi plugin for microtuning, no pitch bends needed, just a display of chord notes. Like a major chord would display '4:5:6', a 7th would be '4:5:6:7', a minor would be '10:12:15'. Just a frequency ratio display. Maybe a little color that turns red if one of the notes are over 20 or so. I guess it would have to load an .scl scales file. The latest scala sort of does this already, but across multiple channels, and you have to use midi yoke.

a resampling vst/vsti wrapper to run plug ins at different sample rate then host.

I would like something to help me organize and select VST patches, regardless of the instrument/effect from whence they came.
I envision something like iTunes (let's call this VSTunes) that lists all the patches as rows in a spreadsheet format and gives me the options to create any columns I would like. It would probably come with some obvious ones pre-built, like instrument, type (pad, keys, perc, etc). I could also create favorites and smart lists. Then, I could load a MIDI file, put VSTunes into random or sequential play and it will cycle through the playlist to find just the right patch. It would be even better if this could be integrated into a host, but I'm not picky. Even better if it could mix and match patches from different VSTs (e.g., sounds and effects VSTs).
Actually, I like this idea so much, I'd pay for it. So please let me know if I'm wishing for something that already exists.

- a semi-modular synth with THE sound, midi learn on everything (andreas ersson would suit nice in such a casting, and so could RGC audio) ;
- a zero-latency convolution reverb (the son of Voxengo boogex and SIR could win) ;
- a top notch slicer (hxxor 2?), with random slicing options, multiouts, plugins, etc ;
- a real time slicer/fsu/buffer-stretching plugin (with real-time sampling, or loading clips from a library or processing incoming audio (the hidden son of the hidden sons of Reaktor, Liveslice, arcdev and glitch) ;
- a real time multitrack loop recorder with drag & dropping audio clips on the fly (gvst, you're on good way !), including real-time stretching and all midi learnable (Larsby ?) ;
- midi plugins (bloated of random stuff) ; There is not much around... An upgraed, improved clone of ableton Live's randomizer, mangled with BallSeq (uplandtoys) ; Soma and NickFit, you'd fit perfectly in such a casting !
- a audio trig to tempo plugin (soma where are you ?) ; You feed the plugin a sound which triggers and send tempo informations to the host.
- an excellent spring reverb plugin, with boingyness (with a betabugsaudio skin ?) ;
- a good (very) good vocoder (g200k, are you here ?) ;
- a C64-alike drummachine (odo, this one shold be for you : U64pro alike, a combination of Dr-sid and livetweaker, not sample based) ;
- a monster bassysnth (laputa-sync, do you read me ?)
- a modular multiefx, with parallel, serial chaining, etc. AND some random and probability (for example : apply a random efx each x bar, or the probability to route a reverb in that chain after a delay is 65%, etc) ;
- a drumsampler with random samples (delamancha, this one could be for you
);
- a plugin with a killer routable interface and midi learn and excellent sound like the Fabfilter plugins : may it be simplon or One, or timeless !
- a NI Massive clone ;
- a midi host wrappable as a vsti, with modular architecture and some midi plugins... something in between Ext and i don't really know what...
WITH a focus on sound quality (at least as important as feature-bloated), nice interface, low cpu, midi learn, etc
NOT another standard compressor/eq/delay (except with killer interface, i'm talking aout manipulation, not only graphic design), VA emulation (or maybe a ms20 with killer filters?), and no quick SE wrapped around an average GUI...
... and forgetting : This time, i'd really like to see Odo, DelaMancha, arcdev, sknote in the challenge !
... and i also would like that each plugin comes with 10 000 $ cash, a free travel to Pluto, 3 or 4 hardware russian synths, a laser harp (with the red suit), the giorgio moroder maseratti and a jetpack.

Seconded, with a 'crash' function for those times when you just have to kick the amp for some chaotic thunder, for Mac OS 10.3 onwards. Also, a vst arpeggiator ( same OS ): bpm variable from 20-240, with note length variable from 1-100%. This would probably fit the Betabugs GUI philosophy, as it only needs two knobs </pun>.sinkmusic wrote:-

I had a chance to work with some ssl wave plugs, wow I need the math
what the F***** , amazing, plug ins from us indie devs should try to raise the bar, no more half ****,
lets make it happen.
My #2 wish list is a plug that steps up to the major quality,
this year I'm bringing it.

I drum sampler that acuurately "morph" drum samples by how hard they are hit...for instance on a low velocity it would make it sound more dull and less dynamic and harder velocities would make it sound brighter and more dynamic.
