hehe, right im not even sure this is possible but hear me out and see what you fancy doin with the idea...
as many of you know i like the idea of random chance type music, not completely random but an element thereof.
ive had an idea for a sampler, the gui of which would feature a 3x3 square of pads(this could be more but i think once i get further you will realise why i am thinking keep it small) and the usual adsr, filter type stuff....
altho only 9 pads are available it would store a hundred or so samples from one shots to loops.
then each time a pad from 1-9 is hit not only will it play the chosen sample, it will also randomise from the pool the other 8 so then a different choice could be made and so on.
not sure if its doable or if anyone fancys trying but if you need more info pm me and ill try and clear up what im after

Last year was great, Triple Cheese is still my favorite plugin ever, and the drum machines sounded great and were very useful.

As a personal suggestion :
A convolution reverb with High-Quality time stretch inplemented ( or integrate from third party, as serato pitch n' time LE or izotope radius for logic ) that targets impulse responses
Here a detailed thread on the topic :
http://www.surroundsfx.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=230
I can figure out a GUI similar to the elastic engine in term of usuability on that particular purpose, ( you may save the resulting impulses afterward, if satistying )
Maybe also a compressor ( some interesting and relatively transparent results ) or eventually other off-line processing
There is some potential IMO, left to increase the flexibility of convolution reverbs at the time you don't absolutely need a pure "natural" rendering ( see the topic on the link about that )

Stuff I'm interested in these days is mostly live-oriented tools. A delay with a taptempo for the delay time with optional, configurable quantize, if multitap/line then the tap/line delays would be set as some ratio of the main time, feedback and a filter in there somewhere, some triggerable envelopes or shapes that can modulate whatever. You could do similar stuff with lots of different kinds of plugins.
But really anything really built from the ground up with live use and control in mind.
A more complicated project I would like to see is a plug with MIDI and OSC I/O and a scripting language, with enough power to do sequencers, arps, bizarre midi generators and transformers and whatnot... Probably too much to ask for this kind of competition though.

I am really wishing on an sp 12 software replica, I mean something as close as the rebirth from propellerhead or the B4 from native instruments, I myself have abunch of code, but need more design specific details on the engine of the em-u sp 12.
not my entry but one of wishes,
as for doing convulsion math, thats a quite greedy engine, Krakatau, but in this competition, I'm pretty sure the cream is coming out to play this time, but the ones who took the top ten are definitly pro's who knows what will happen.

a pack of free synthedit modules for audio buffer manipulation, more direct than trying to work through the standard type delay modules, with seperate feedback modules, and a combo. meh, thats just my wishlist.

i assume you meant "convolution"...thanks for the info bro !sunahura wrote:as for doing convulsion math, thats a quite greedy engine, Krakatau, but in this competition, I'm pretty sure the cream is coming out to play this time, but the ones who took the top ten are definitly pro's who knows what will happen.

Here another request that includes a personal contribution :
I' ve got actually a quite huge sampleset originally created for EXS24, that i already submitted when i began a few years ago , as examples :
www.anak-krakatoa.net/~downl/samples/samples.zip
If you've got to convert them into another format with Translator, CDXtact, etc..., it should peaces of cake because, apart from samples, my program edit is still very basic
I had a few collaborations with waiting man ( a refill for his plug-in "Stealth" not in the kvr's database at the present time ) and had a chance to collaborate for another refill for Rhino, though we didn't went on
Actually, all in all, the original sampleset as grown to 1.4 Gig and would be i think, especially interesting add-on for an ambient music related synth/rompler with eventually a low CPU cost ,among other sample based thingie, totally or partially...
This with a personnal suggestion, if you don't bother, related to the samples articulations for something mostly targeting evolving sounscape because the most of the samples are yet, designed and programmed with legato envelopes, ( and this also because it falls precisely on my area of competence : http://www.notone.ch/olschool.htm )
Feel free to answer here or PM me, because it is also an excellent motivation for me to finalise the actual work and clealy target, as sample designing, what could be done by my side from now :
- there would be on that purpose other suggestions ( about of course, samples articulation especially ) to be submitted around it

A beat slicer/arranger in the spirit of Phatmatik Pro and Liveslice which has a random function. The random function would re-arrange the slices you have made from a loop and hopefully make a useable random variation of the loop. If the random arrangement generated is not useable you can hit random again or discard and go back to the original loop and try again. Be good if it had some parameters to adjust how the loop is randomized. Then have an export function to wave or drag and drop to midi channel like Phatmatik.
No idea if this is possible but something i would like to see made. If it's possible i'm sure there are bigger brains then me out there who can think of more usable function for this thing.
