After some testing I've discovered that if I freeze the GUI (using the mousewheel), if I go to another window (i.e., Firefox) and then come back to XT2 again, the freeze is fixed and everything's back to normal.

[edit - actually, on re-reading the post it seems --= Ju =-- discovered this already]
